If buying any food got the kids, get it from the supermarket rather than a fast food chain as it'll be cheaper and better.
Only buy the essentials, really. And spoiled kids need to be kept in control.
Also, if ya can, walk as much as you can if you don't have a car so you'll be doing sum excercise and by the time the kid(s) gets home he/she is tired.
P.S. Cafe's (shops) are a good way to eat a basic meal and can be reasonably cheap but also pricey depending where it is and all.

Thanks!
With petrol prices on the increase, and parking becoming more and more expensive, travelling around as a family by car is becoming less affordable. So i guess the only way to do it is by train
however, the uk rail system isn’t cheap, right? So do you want to travel cheaper using the uk rail network? Checkout the family and friends railcard:
The site says you can save up to 1/3 from standard prices, and possibly an additional 60% off kids’ fares
I believe TFL have their own family passes available to purchase too, so you can get around London as a family in a more cost effective way

I think picnics are a great way to save money and have fun. Younger kids enjoy the whole process of choosing what to take in the picnic and older kids can help prepare the food. Taking your own food somewhere that has no admission fee like a park or the beach is a great way to save money. You can go by bike and if you take a football or other outdoor game it keeps everyone entertained. The simple things tend to be the most enjoyable.
