Teenage pregnancy is NOT on the rise, in fact quite the opposite, https://www.southampton.ac.uk/news/2020/11/teenage-pregnancy-decline.page

All my four daughter reached 20 and none got pregnant. That was a good result in my eyes. Now I’m waiting for grandchildren and nothing is happening lol.

I will never look down my nose at teenage mums, I was one myself, having had my sons when I was 17 & 19. We raised (yes I'm still with their dad. Shocker!!) two very decent, mature, well rounded young men, both now with good jobs & prospects. A 10 year falling pregnant tho is vastly different to a 16/17 yr old falling pregnant IMO. She's not even a teenager yet. She's a young CHILD!!. The fact that it says no one noticed either is yet more shocking. Are her parents walking around with eyes shut? That girl has been let down & very probably groomed/abused. I hope her & the baby get help & are protected.

Glitterandgold teenage pregnancy is pretty normal from where I'm from at the end of the day it happens I would never judge as I've got family members who had kids young and they are great parents I think 11 tho its mad I didn't think how did her parents didn't know its not that it could be hidden

The fact no one noticed is probably due to the common misconception that females can not conceive until after menstruation has started. Through the years thousands of youngsters have conceived in the month leading up to when menstruation would have started.

I was quite shocked that her parents did not notice, if it was my daughter I hope that she would have felt that she could tell me instead of hiding it, I have always been open and honest with my son and he learned about sex as well as me telling him as it’s not just the girl how has to practice safe sex boys have to be responsible as well, but as Glitterandgold says I will also never look down my nose at a teenage mother as some are very responsible and make good parents, hopefully her parents will help her and she will learn how to take care of her baby and they will grow up together and have a lovely bond

What worries me is at that age was she sexually molested, I know kids are growing up early but at 10, I would have thought that she just started noticing boys, not being sexually active. Hopefully she gets the support she needs.

Hopefully that's the case, otherwise it would just add to the issues of kids having kids and having to grow up too fast Leannexxx

Leannexxx this is quite shocking as my niece will be 10 this year and I can’t comprehend someone her age having a baby.

I read a very sad article the other day about girls this age being harassed by boys on a daily basis asking them for nude photos. Apparently it’s such a regular occurrence that they don’t feel the need to report it and just carry on. They all seem to have mobile phones from such a young age.

I did read this story and there was a link to the world youngest mothers...youngest was 5 ...yes 5 years old!!! She gave birth to a boy, her parents thought she had a stomach tumour but they found out the girl was 7 month pregnant. The girl is 82 now and has never spoken about it and never said who fathered her baby. There was another girl in pakistan who was a grandmother at 17 after her and her daughter were pregnant at 7 & 8.

Its really shocking and actually made me feel quite sick as you know the reason why.

I would never judge a teen mum/dad, you have people in their 30s having babies and not being able to look after them.

11?! I suppose my interest in the opposite sex started around that age and call me sheltered but wouldn't have known how to make a child!

Unfortunately, I went to a school in an underprivileged area and there were girls who had more babies than GCSEs - the youngest being 13 before the family sent her away

This news is shocking. Let’s hope the grandparents support them all. There’s no mention of the father of the baby. Will he help?

I always say never judge a book by its cover, I personally think that if you are mature enough to unprotected sex you are mature enough to look after a child. Yes lots of girls in my school got pregnant before or just after taking their GCSE's but they still did their exams went onto college and some even went to university. Some didn't continue with their education but 2 of them ended up running their own business's and have mortgages. Not all young mums are bad mums, I personally think you should wait a bit longer to have kids but each to their own.
