Buy 6 Get 25% of Wine! is It a Con?

Ask a Question

I always stock up when the supermarkets do the 6 bottles and get 25% off.

But do you think these are genuine prices o increase them weeks before by 25%.

Not a wine drinker myself but a mate of mine always stocks up during these Morrisons promotions as long as his favourites are included . Apparently some can be a bit rough though πŸ™„, you need to know which ones you like.

Bossclaz no they are decent - I just wish I lived in England. With the new customer offers you can get bottles for around Β£2.63. The Β£5 bottles become Β£3.75 on buy 6 and some are actually quite decent if your not Jilly Goolden πŸ˜‰

Such strong evidence nowadays that alcohol is linked to cancer and while wine isn't as bad as spirits it is still bad. It is a poison and being poisoned can have after effects.

BonzoBanana Italians drink a lot of wine and have a life expectancy higher than most countries around the world. My grandpa is 90 years old and has drunk 1L of wine/daily since I can remember hahaha

kikogpe It's all about probabilities. The Mediterranean diet is generally very good despite pasta and alcohol which reduce life expectancy, no diet is perfect. Cancer rates look fairly high in Italy but all of Europe and the US appears to have high cancer rates but then all of them do drink a lot of alcohol. However it has to be said that both the US and Europe have reliable data which you wouldn't get from many places in the world. I'm not convinced many third world countries have low cancer rates because they don't provide accurate data.

Ireland are now putting cancer warnings on bottles of wine.

Its certainly worth stocking up when the 25% offers are on, I do. My favourite wine is rarely discounted by this much.

Don’t drink enough wine to make it worth my while. Whiskies, on the other hand…

The Waitrose 25% off was on ALL the bottles over Β£5, I have seen this in other supermarkets too so you can buy the good stuff and get money off.

Morrisons have 25% off at the moment. Compare the bottle prices with other supermarkets eg Graham Norton Sauvignon Blanc works out Β£4 bottle, I’ve not tried this so not a personal recommendation.

I have been lucky on occasion as my favourite wine in Tesco was recently on a clubcard deal AND in a 25% off 6 bottles deal. Double prizes make the wine even cheaper... Our home delivery driver always knows when the wine deal is on!

I only buy wine during these offers now - the prices on the wine I buy are not increased beforehand. I get genuine good value for very good quality Australian wine! πŸ˜ƒ

Tesco do the offer every so often, but it's only on bottles over Β£7, so the minimum price is Β£5.25 each. This is in Wales.

I can get cheaper from Aldi at normal prices.
