Would You Buy More than One Clearance Product?

Ask a Question

My local supermarket has knocked down the price of Carte Dor mint choc chip ice cream to 90p. According to a staff member they're changing the packaging. There were 2 tubs left and I bought them both (it's my favourite), my husband laughed and said "I knew you would get both" Of course it's ice cream and it reduced, I fail to see the problem

What do you think of this?

Depends on what it is really and if it's something I use or knew someone who will make use of it.

No I'd leave one . So when a member of the underclass has finished clearing the loo paper aisle they can take the last ice cream to cool down .

Yes, especially if it’s food that you’d normally eat, as you know it’ll not go to waste. But obviously only if there’s fridge/freezer space

Yes. I recently went into a Sainsbury's Local and noticed they were going to stop stocking Cadbury Freddo 6 Packs in that particular branch and were selling remaining stock for £0.68 each. I bought 8 packets 🍫

ACR They're going to STOP stocking Freddo 6 packs?

I'd arrange a boycott of the store if I was you.

TheChimp it does seem a little crazy, but I wasn't complaining. Fortunately, it's not a branch I visit very often.

TheChimp yeah you need 2 bars today to make up what used to be one. Same with packs of crisps they now 16.5gs. But price goes up its shocking.

TheChimp after posting I went back to the shop and bought the last three Freddo packets. Noticed individual Curly Wurly bars were also being discontinued there and selling for the discounted price of 15p. I wonder if they will also be shrinking soon.

Back when I had Facebook I was on a few discount sites and got trolled so bad for doing something similar.

I would still do it again. If it's reduced and it's there and you like it (or know someone who would) then do it

I went to aldi a few days ago and found the Chilli Oil Spray for 49p, usual price is 1.50. I bought 4.

I will use it anyways and lasts forever.

This reminds me of the time I got the last two packs of reduced to clear sausage rolls in M&S. I often used to pop in after work just to check for the yellow stickered items (they can always be frozen). A rather disgruntled couple behind me in the queue engaged me in a very passive aggressive conversation about "how lucky I'd been to get both of them" etc. Of course I ignored the hints and carried on as if we were just having a friendly conversation, bid them a cheery goodbye, and left with my bargains.

Yes of course. I've bought several of one clearance item at once before. Why not?

Definitely, that's why things are reduced - to sell. I like nothing better than getting a basket full of 'drop downs', especially fish, chicken, and bread - it can all be frozen, get it while you can. It's only toilet rolls, rice and pasta restricted to two, lol.

If I can afford it and I actually need or really want the products, then yes.

If it is a product that we use and can either be frozen, has a long date or is a non perishable item then yes I would buy more than one. Ice cream isn't something I would buy loads of though, even if it was reduced.
