Ask a Question

Just a bit of fun but what do you call your evening meal ? Is it Tea,Supper,Dinner or something else?

I call it dinner because that is what my mum called it. For me supper is what you have later in the evening, like a snack after dinner but before bed.

Dinner or tea for us in the evening, then lunch is midday simply because that's what my parents always called it.

For me it's called dinner, but when I was younger my mother used to call it supper, these days it seems the younger generation are calling it their scran, I've no idea why though.

If it is your main meal of the day, whether in the middle of evening, it can be called dinner. When women were predominantly housewives dinner was usually in the middle of the day. My aunt would keep back uncle's dinner for when he got in after work, I used to feel a bit sorry for him!

It really depends what we are eating. If it is a cooked meal in the evening it is called dinner but if we had a cooked meal at lunch then we will have a cold tea.

Dinner. Dinner in our household includes a sweet course. Occasionally we might "go posh" and have a starter.

We always call our evening meal dinner, always have done but sometimes we have ’dinner’ at lunch time and that gets confusing.
