Celebration Cards

Ask a Question

I know this might sound a strange question, but, when should you stop caring about people sending you cards for your birthday? I'm old fashioned, I like a card, rather than an online greeting (mainly family etc), so are we moving out of sending cards? It would be a shame if we did.

What do you think of this?

When I was a soldier, well I still am, but when I was away, there was nothing better than receiving letters and cards. If made you feel like you had a connection to the sender and were incredibly welcome to receive. The art has gone I think sadly.

I think card days are slowly going. I get them for close family birthdays but that’s it now

The problem is, when you add it all up, the cards might not be expensive with all these cheap card shops, but the blinking postage is. First class is nearly as much as the card can be.

DannySpeed yeh that’s true postage is quite a lot. so it does put people off sending cards

I don’t receive cards from my distant relatives like aunts and uncles but I feel it is important to send them to all close friends and family no matter what age!

This year we only got about 20% of the xmas cards we normally get. I cant say im dissapointed because i just put them in the bin. I remember when i was young there would be xmas cards hung all over the walls 🤣 The only cards i buy now are close family and best friends for birthdays and my wife for valentines, mothers day, anniversary etc - she loves a card 🙊

I still buy and send cards for celebrations but to be honest I am not too fussed about receiving them as they only end up in the bin a few days later (I don’t keep them)

I'm not bothered about cards to be honest. I found one when I was packing up to move for my 40th birthday that I hadn't even opened. I went on holiday for it and just put it in the cupboard for when I got back home and forgot to open it. Never even missed it even though it was from a best friend.
