I think I'm mostly ready for it, just got the present wrapping to do.

I hope it snows, but more likely to be damp and warm as per usual.

Getting ready for it, still got a few things to finish up. Some snow would be nice, all we've had so far in my area is rain and sleet.

I'm 100% ready for Christmas. I've already wrapped all my presents, handed them out, dropped them off and shipped them to family living abroad. I am always very organised at Christmas. I'm only adding finishing touches now. A raindeer ornament here, a candle there. But I'm relaxed about it all now as I don't have anything left to do

PinkElephant26 Thank you. I understand what you mean, it is very difficult to motivate ourselves to do anything this year. I usually go all out at Halloween but I barely put up anything. I did buy a pumpkin but I didn't carve it because on Halloween day I was so unwell with food poisoning that I barely left the couch. I don't know where I've found the energy for Christmas but I have felt like I should push myself. My uncle died last week so I feel like I'm making an effort not only for myself but for the Christmas he won't have.

My neighbour is definitely going over the top with the outdoor decorations. He got so carried away today that the Christmas tree in his garden fell on him when he was putting lights on it x

Moonstone22 Sorry for your loss ๐Ÿ˜” its a lovely idea to make christmas extra special this year.

My in laws live opposite us and their house is covered top to bottom in lights! They do it every year. I just dont have the motivation to deal with christmas. Im not the most festive person anyway (my friends call me the grinch ๐Ÿ˜†) but i do like to go christmas shopping to Newcastle usually go once with my hubby and once with my friend then do the rest online but we had our daughter in June and because of Covid shes barely been out and i dont want to risk taking her out shopping with lots of people about so we're giving it a miss. It just doesnt feel like Christmas this year.

I think I'll have to get my bum into gear, get in the attic and get the tree down!

PinkElephant26 Thank you. Your in laws house must be like deck the halls, it sounds amazing. I've shopped in Newcastle before when I was on holiday and it was lovely, the people were so friendly. Congratulations on having your baby girl. It must be difficult not having freedom to do what you would like with your daughter. My nephew is 2 and hasn't liked being indoors, he has so much energy that keeping him in has made him extremely hyper. I agree with you, Christmas does not feel the same, I just had to firmly tell my brother to not come down on a 3 hour train with my older nephews just so he can give me Christmas presents. I'm sending their presents over post. It is too risky, there are a lot of things that are not safe to do. I haven't gone big with the decorating too. I've mostly gone for the creative route. Making my own baubles and I have bought Christmas tree kits. Where you pour a mixture over mini cardboard trees and crystals grown on the trees over Christmas. It's understated but beautiful

Moonstone22 those trees sound interesting! I'll have to google them! Im quite crafty too, ive made loads of Christmas stuff for friends & family - just not us ๐Ÿ˜†.

Yes, it's difficult as i took my boys to baby & toddler groups / soft play etc and I havent been able to with my daughter. Im having to send parcels to family too, they dont live too far away but they do usually pass to exchange gifts but postage is going to cost a pretty penny this year - should have stuck with gift cards!

I would definitely say their house is like deck the halls, they often get elderly knocking and saying how amazing it is, lots of people stop in their cars and take pictures. I'll see if i can add an image!

Are you having anyone in your bubble around this Christmas?

PinkElephant26 That's brilliant, I find crafting really relaxing. There was a woman at a Christmas work shop I went to last year that gave me an idea of buying mini Christmas wooden doors and decorating them with my family. It was a lovely activity, my nephews and nieces loved it.

I'm sure that in time you'll be able to make up for it with her in other ways. The postage for all my parcels this year cost me over a hundred pounds. It's so expensive to send them off, especially abroad.

It looks magical, they have done an amazing job. I remember when I was little there was a house down my street that was completely lit up with Christmas lights. The family were so lovely who lived there, they allowed people to come into their hallway where they put out one of those big singing Santa's. And when I pressed the santa they would know someone was there and they would come out and give me candy.

I think I'm only going to be spending Christmas with the people in my household. My sister in law is coming around with my nephew so we can swap presents which I am really looking forward to. But we'll only talk by the door. I can't wait to see my little nephew, it's going to be so hard not to give him a cuddle. Are you going to be having anyone in your bubble around at Christmas?

Moonstone22 I think its nice when people make an effort for the children, its something they'll remember, like you have when you were little. Oh gosh...postage is expensive for you this year! I stupidly bought my neice a big heavy toy so that alone will probably cost alot to post.

Aw, that will be lovely for you to see your nephew but sad not to be able to give him hugs. Its going to be tough for lots in the same position.

My in laws will be over on Christmas morning to give the kids their presents but apart from that its just us. We usually got to my mums for boxing day but we've postponed it this year..until we can all meet properly and safely.

PinkElephant26 I agree with you, I think how a Christmas pans out for a child makes a reflection on how they feel about Christmas as an adult, so I try my best to make it special for my nieces and nephews.

The postage is very expensive, they were asking for an extra ยฃ20 per parcel just so it could be delivered 3 days sooner, I passed on that one. Usually a heavy parcel to anywhere in the UK costs ยฃ20 to ยฃ30 but to anywhere outside of the UK it costs ยฃ40 to ยฃ50, it's a lot.

It is so difficult, I saw my nephew in the summer and he kept asking for cuddles and I couldn't give him any so he was getting distressed. I hope it won't be a repeat of that, I'll probably give him chocolate, it's the no. 1 remedy to stop his toddler tantrums.

It's nice you'll be able to see your in laws and a shame you won't be able to go over to your mums. There are a lot of sacrifices we all have to make this year, it's not fair

Not yet but getting there. Three trees up out of four, two of these fully decorated and one just in lights for now. No other decorations yet. Most of the shopping is done, as is most of the wrapping up. Still not in the Christmas spirit, though. Still waiting for this to kick in this year.
