Can any one help me with my Christmas Cake ?

Ask a Question

I made a Christmas cake six weeks ago, soaked the fruits in brandy over night, it was the last bit of brandy I had,so I mixed in a bit of port aswell, then off I went down bargain booze the following week and got a collection of different mini brandy's to feed it with, I have been feeding it every Monday, tonight I got my little brandy selection out the cupboard and the bloke pointed out none of them are brandy's!!!!!! I have 3 dark rums and 2 whisky's, I'm on week 6 so I have used them all at least once,

Is my cake ruined now? will it be too much of a mix? Is it too late to start again?

this is only my second year doing Christmas cake and last year I just stuck to 1 brandy as per recipe

Reckon it'll be fine. It'll add to the flavour of the cake.

You can always go to the shops and buy one and say that you have made it yourself

It will be fine, Soaking a cake with alcohol doesn't particularly impart the flavour/characteristics of that particular alcohol, but rather it just gives it a richness, and keeps it moist.

Happy to send my address so you can send a slice to me for testing πŸ˜…
