How To Decorate for Christmas
Ask a Question
struggling what to decorate, i have a simply living room with grey corner couch and 3 seater nothing on the walls as newly decorated and dont want holes, got a large window and 2 doors in the front room, i have a lovely tree but unsure what other decorations to put up any idea's
ye i prefer just tree got flashing lights and few ornaments was thinking getting snow roll for under tree and few elfs make it more christmassy as its for the kids really x
smedleys97 just have a tree, as blacklabrador says. Sometimes 'less is more'. We also have Elf x 2 that get moved around by one of us the other having to find them, by Christmas it's all a bit silly and naughty.
We have wooden snowmen on the mantle, I turning them regularly so that they look somewhere different each time either out of the window or looking at whoever is sat on the sofa.
thats a good idea going shopping sat or sun so will look for something like this, thank you
smedleys97 Home bargains is a great store to buy Christmas decorations, massive choice at very reasonable prices.
What about a garland if you have a mantle piece?
They can look very classy and you can match it to your tree theme?
smedleys97 that’s what I done all around my room ceiling and on kitchen dinning table wall
I'm the same but with 2 young children want it looking festive. We've got some tea lights that are snowman and santa shaped which is battery operated so no burnt fingers, Christmas teddies, a gonk, Christmas tree, lights that go round the room (used drawing pins into the coving can't even tell or see holes) x
Awww. That sounds lovely. It'll be magical for the small children. Sorry if this is a silly question but what is a gonk ?
I always have the problem just when we think we are finished we see something and always add to it . We really feel for your in your dilemma.
I recently saw a green paper chain display for a door - easy and it does spread the decoration around without damaging your woodwork - blu tack. The one I first saw had the strings splayed out more but this is the idea.
That would be good to put on the chat about Christmas decorations
Might try to make one myself
You could have a Christmas tree, I buy baubles but I also make them from bauble creative kits. It's a lovely activity to do during lockdown. The kits only cost about £1 per bauble. I bought a gingerbread man and a raindeer that has a bell around it's neck. There was a women from a Christmas shop that gave me the idea of making a Christmas door. All you need is a wooden door you can buy from the range or the works. And you can paint and decorate it as you wish. It was a nice activity to do with the family and see what everyone came up with
this is a fantastic idea, keeps the kids entertained as well, will have to give this ago, thank you so much for sharing
smedleys97 You're welcome, it is brilliant for keeping the kids busy, the little ones in my family loved it x
I got my windows on my porch doodled by a very talented young lady in Stockport... she has some stunning designs, some very simple, some very “busy”, I went for the grinch! You can buy window/glass paint at any hobby shop or Amazon etc........
now this is cool, will have to do some searching online thank you all for all the fab ideas you have given me
This is amazing and would brighten up any door or window. Lucky you! I'd almost forgotten the stickers I bought weeks ago from Amazon. Tasteful vs colourful.....
smedleys97 I second what you just said. That really is cool. What a brave thing to do painting the glass! Do you know the name of the artist or her company?
kfe202 .... I won’t lie, it’s my daughter! She does all the shop windows in our village ... she is on Instagram @thtdoodlegirl
MandeeMayson You're so blessed. What a talent your daughter has! Thanks for the details
kfe202 that’s so lovely of you, thank you! Have you seen her Instagram? You should take a quick peek! Xxxxx
Thank you this made me as it sums up this year perfectly. Just think how much £ you would have got for this lot earlier in the year.
Thank you for posting this. You're so funny. This got a chuckle out of me. I think I'm going to use Christmas in a different way, though ... to forget about the pandemic!
I normally just put up a Christmas Tree and some Christmas ornaments, but you could put some lights in your Windows or there are some really great Christmas Window stickers .
Christmas cushions on the couch plus a nice Christmas blanket always make it seem more festive to me.
