Christmas Traditions
Ask a Question
Do you have any Christmas traditions that you do every year? Do you follow them on from being a child or did you make your own up?
We made our own up after my son was born. This involves going to as many family Christmas events as possible in December and doing at least one thing every weekend. This can be going to see father Christmas, going to local Christmas shopping events and markets and simple things at home like making Christmas gingerbread or salt dough decorations.
Opening stockings in the morning before you get up and main presents are handed out in an organised order, so you can see everyone open each present and it’s not just carnage my family had strict rules growing up around Christmas and I just like it that way... I put so much thought into peoples presents that I like to see their reactions and for them to know who got them what.. luckily my partner respects my OCD with this
That's what my childhood was like.
And like you, I put a lot of thought into presents for other people.
As a grown up, I don't like people watching me open presents though! What if I'm disappointed? I can't act!
MeestairChrees i actually am exactly the same I force people into letting me watch them open presents but I don’t want people watching me... but my excitement and joy comes from other people being happy with their presents, I don’t care about getting presents myself...
sarahgreen15 yeah, I love finding people presents. The thing that gets to me is how much effort I put in, so the disappointment can come from not seeing effort put in from others - quantity or cost isn't so important, but thought!
I don't have any christmas traditions except to decorate the christmas tree, eat chicken and rice and drink red bull.
Chicken, rice and red bull for Christmas dinner? Where does that tradition come from? Bit unusual.
I like to go for a walk around my area and have a pint in a local pub that always opens on Christmas day for a few hours Then eat too much
