Clapping from a Bridge?

In the News

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/health/clap-for-carers-westminster-bridge-social-distancing-a4416691.html

I suppose it’s currently the only joy a lot of people are getting during these harsh times, clapping collectively with spirited cheers, but obviously there’s been backlash for those who did it from Westminster bridge last night

at least they weren’t setting off fireworks...

I should have made the title more obvious, sorry.

Not letting off fireworks true, but probably doing much more damage. . . by doing the exact opposite of what they thought they were doing, they were definitely not observing social distancing regulations, so instead of supporting the health workers they were making their task even harder.

Setting off fireworks on their own way!

hspexy Yes and they should all be locked up. . . I wonder how many lives their total STUPIDITY will cost. It maddens me when I see people just defying the social distancing regulations. As I'm writing this it came on television (which I rarely watch through the day) and at least one had a child in her hands.

I guess the footage has outraged a lot of people, as if the people had been setting off fireworks and sky lanterns! Just looks like an excuse for people to celebrate during these tough times

Yes it was indeed an excuse for them to celebrate, and celebrate with others, but forgetting what they’re celebrating about lol

The participants clearly didn't think it through... I went for a longer walk on Saturday afternoon and crossed Westminster Bridge. It was very quiet in central London.

It must’ve felt very strange to be in the heart of London without it being busy. It’s usually so crowded and hectic

Yes, aside from public transport running, it even feels much quieter than Christmas Day. l usually walk to different areas most days. Yesterday I walked through St. Pancras Station in Kings Cross and only saw a few station staff and a couple of passengers. Oxford Street is very quiet. You do see people jogging or riding a bike. There is a lot of homeless people around. They must be really suffering during the lockdown.
