Considering Joining Prime and Have a Couple Questions

Ask a Question

I'm almost at end of free Prime trial, used it quite a bit too. If I join the monthly £8.99 one am I able to cancel when I want with no penalties? Or am I tied into a contract. I can't find the answer online so thought I'd ask here 😊hopefully someone will know. Thanks Victoria

Yes you are free to cancel anytime without penalty . If you buy off Amazon regularly like I do you will probably find it very useful coming up to Christmas anyway.

Mango4 thankyou, I'm definitely joining then 😊 trouble is I'm buying more as I'm enjoying the same day or next day deliveries 😆 I'm not interested in the music, books, games or videos though, just deliveries 🙈 will be spending more on Amazon than Ebay that's for sure. Only just read you can get food deliveries and takeaway deliveries free too 😃

I’ve used the free PRIME deals then it’s easy to cancel. Go to Your Amazon Prime Membership.

Select Manage, select Update, Cancel and More, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Pjran Thanks for the heads up Pjran 👍I've still got a week's free trial so will be renewing it to £8.99pm and if I'm not using it much its good to know I can cancel anytime and I'm not tied into some contract 😊

Aleesha22 after I cancelled my free trial it was only a couple of weeks before I had it free for another month.

Aleesha22 Your comment suggests you think you might need to renew - if you do NOTHING it will automatically renew when your free trial is over. The only action required is if you don't want to renew or if you want to pay annually.

davidstockport I'm on the last week of my free trial, I'm undecided whether to cancel or pay monthly and see how it goes. Just wanted to know if I set up monthly payments and change my mind I can cancel anytime. All I've been using is free delivery, not interested in their TV, music, books or games so need to weigh up if I'll be ordering regularly enough to make the £8.99 worthwhile 🙂

Aleesha22 I don't have many deliveries, but actually consider the £8.99 a month reasonable for Prime Video. I am considering stopping my Prime subscription for a few months next summer when the Prime Video won't be needed very much. From things I've read they'll sometimes offer another free trial to attract people back. 😀

Aleesha22 the subscription is automatic as they already have your payment details.

These small payments can add up, £9 a month is £108 a year or £540 over 5 years and if combined with other small monthly payments for services you don't really need can lead to debt and having to pay debt interest and a large reduction in living standards. I have 3 Amazon accounts and each offers a free trial it seems at least once a year so get 3 months for free which I tend to time with black friday and other promotional events. I find the prime video service very poor and soon get bored of the content there. The average family is spending something like £1000 on interest per year (excluding mortgages) I think now which again is a huge reduction in living standards. People use prime for free delivery but you only have to spend £20 for free delivery and many products are still cheaper elsewhere either online or locally. Sometimes people buy from Amazon out of convenience rather than value which again reduces your living standards.

The good thing is Amazon prime is very easy to leave without penalties if you pay monthly. Not sure how it works if you have paid in advance.

Yes you can join without any commitment if you find you no longer need or can afford it. They are also forgiving if you're late in payments by a few days .. I've been late in payments a few times and they continued to provide me with the prime service until I quickly made sure there is money in the bank for them to take out
