Credit Score
Ask a Question
Hello everyone!
I need to build up my credit score and need some ideas from you guys. Please may you jot down any ideas to increasing my credit score. I am aware that voting and paying for telephone bill improves the chance, but any other ideas?
You don't need to vote , just ensure you are on the electoral roll , Any utility bill regularly paid helps :- Council Tax , Rent or Mortgage , Energy bill , Broadband , Mobile phone contract etc .
Probably the best way is to get a credit card , maybe use it once or twice a month for your groceries and ensure you pay it off every month that way it will be interest free.
Golfforall I'd recommend the Aqua card. It gives cashback on all purchases, but it's only 0.50% and at the end of the year.
It's a nice little left over to get although these days I use Chase instead as they give 1% cashback (first year) and 5% round-up.
Loqbox can boost your credit score though this is a service where you pay £20 (min) and then get it back at the end of twelve months. Either to your preferred bank account (this costs £30) or create a new bank account thru them (free).
And as for Electoral Vote, you don't actually need to vote, just be registered. Today we have a new PM, yet I didn't vote for him.
PhilipMarc I didn't know we had a new PM today - I nor any other voter votes to put a PM in power - although I believe King Charles (formerly known as Prince) will ask someone to become the Prime Minister tomorrow, after the one we have today resigns.
Monday 24th October 2022 - in case anyone reads this next week.
I use the ClearScore app - it’s totally free and gives you regular tips on how to improve your credit rating. The worse thing you can do is keep applying for credit if they do a hard search that will be recorded on your credit file.
suevernon1968 It disappears after a year, but that's a long wait.
If anyone would want a CC with cashback: Aqua (0.50%) & Amex Platinum Everyday (5% for the first three months, then 0.50%). Both are free yearly.
Chase a debit bank account also offers cashback (1%) during its first year for each member, and round-up (5%) this keeps going unlike cashback (an incentive).
Chase is FSCS so it should appear on credit reports as it should whereas cards like Revolut don't because it's EMI instead. That's Electronic Money Institution.
I use ClearScore and also Experian - you can get a free trial of their subscription and it gives you deeper insights and recommendations into how you can improve it, plus predictions of what your credit score will be in the next 3 months, 6 months, 1 year etc
miaclare19 thank you so much! Yes indeed I use clear score already its simple as thanks
