What Factors Impact a Breed's Popularity in the Kennel Club?

Ask a Question

What's your favourite part the show

And with more vunerable breeds added to the KC list why have some breeds like bearded Collie, some terriers, cardigan corgi and otterhound fallen out of popularity.

I like the agility fly ball and dancing to music as well as the gun dog and working groups

I find it quite offensive. I hate to see the inbreed animals with many health conditions. A pedigree dog is pretty much an inferior dog compared to a standard mutt that is allowed to breed more freely with different animals from a wider gene pool. An ex-neighbour had a cavalier dog and she said she learnt that her breed of dog often developed too big a brain for its skull and created all sorts of extra pressure in its head and it just sounded horrific. Lots of pedigree dogs have short lifespans and frankly they look like crap and un-natural.

Its the same sort of thing Hitler tried to do with people, breeding from a closed group of people to create the perfect race but it doesn't work, genetic diversity works best.

Crufts makes me deeply uncomfortable and if I ever get a dog it will be a heinz 57 type breed from a rescue centre but to be honest I'm more of a cat person and have a healthy moggy cat.

There are standards that dog breeders adhere to to ensure the breeds are healthy, as with any breed they do get health problems it would be like humans we all have our health issues.

My sis has a boxer 12yrs and was healthy it's only now in old age she has few problems.

My mum has a Newfoundland and not had any health issues known to the breed.

If you choose a reputable breeder who knows the breed and has knowledge then they can be a lifetime of support too for that breed.

Never watched it before but am this year. Never thought it woukd be interesting. Maybe I'm getting old. 🙈The 11 year old has enjoyed it. Though the my favourite thing so far is the dog taking a dump during agility but I've that immature humour that finds stuff like that funny
