Cut Men's Hair - How To?

Ask a Question

Hello guys,

Anyone has some recommendations on a machine that would be fine to cut male's hair (1x a month) that happens to be thick and on the longer side.

I know barbers cut with scissors first, however, they use a machine after.

I have bad experiences with machines, one I had from my family it died while cutting and the other that was (supposedly) to cut hair wasn't strong enough.

Any recommendations?

Would appreciate if you can send links or provide model names, not just say buy Phillips or any other brand name.

Thanks.

I bought this recently from amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000A2WO8O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is my review of it on Amazon;

These are quite low in Wahl's range, minimal features, no case and the hair attachments are basic plastic but I have to say they work great and have been very happy with the results. Absolutely fantastic value. They cost me about the same as one haircut and I can envisage using these for many years and not having to go to a hairdressers again. I get my hair done between about 6 and 12 weeks apart so I guess about once every 2 months on average or 6 times a year. If they last me 7 years that is 40x the cost of these hair clippers saved in haircuts. A significant amount of money. The difference between a professional hair cut and the hair cut I have achieved with these is quite small, yes the professional hair cut is better but on the flip side with these hair clippers I can cut my hair more frequently so there is the advantage that my hair can be more presentable for a longer period of time even if it isn't quite as good as a professional hair cut.

The one thing to bear in mind the accessories are basic quality so you will need to treat them with more care.

I should point out I just have a basic short haircut though.

Johnny my partner says its not really for hair, its a beard trimmer that somehow cuts hair. Back to searching mode.

I don't think it's really the equipment that matters as much as the person cutting it and the technique.

If popularity is anything to go by the Remington Quick Cut must be awesome. I haven't used it myself but we created a stock checker to help people buy it as it seems to be consistently out of stock! Looks to be particularly useful if you're having a go at cutting your own hair.
