Am I Being Too Cynical About COVID Vaccines?

Ask a Question

AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have both been flagged as having the potential to cause blood clots.

Both Russia and China have manufactured millions of vaccines of their own, yet there are no reports of any concerns with side-effects. Can this be true, or is it that nothing is being reported concerning these vaccines by these countries?

Am I being too cynical when I feel this is hard to believe?

What do you think of this?

Russia and China are among the most secretive countries in the world, N. Korea possibly the worst, so they are not likely to advertise any flaws in their vaccine.

The amount of blood clots compared to how many have been vaccinated is minimal. Are we saying none of these people already jabbed, me included, would have had blood clots?

It certainly won't put me off having my second jab. Given the choice, at my age, I would sooner die quick with a blood clot than linger with covid.

It’s also important to consider how low the risk of blood clots is. There is a risk of blood clots with many medications, such as the contraceptive pill which many take with no issues.

Honestly I wouldn't believe anything Russia or China say (Or in this case don't say)

When having an inoculation for anything you have to make your own decision about the potential side effects and whether you are prepared to accept the risk after weighing up the pros and cons.

Russia & China? Do they allow free speech? Would they tell the rest of the world if they had problems? If you are interested in Russia you could watch RT for a different point of view.

Also in Russia and China if you are told to have the vaccine then you must have it. Ditto if you are told to isolate you do.

Wow Lauren, that really puts it into perspective and makes you wonder what all the fuss is about. I have no qualms at all about my 2nd jab, in fact wondering why I haven't had a call for it yet.

Lynibis I am a bit of a worrier (I've already had my first jab) and this really contextualised the blood clot issue and made me more rational about my fears. I'm on the contraceptive pill and I don't worry whilst on that. So I hope it helps other people the same way

I really believe theres likely to be an increase in recent blood clots due to the fact people will have been sitting around more over the last year. Being sedentary for long periods is one if not the biggest cause of blood clots.

Lynibis The 2nd jab is supposed to be 12 weeks after the first one - if that date is getting close and you have not heard then chase them up - dont leave it just in case you do get missed. Inviting and keeping tabs with everyone for their jabs is a massive undertaking and some will sadly fall through the cracks - dont let it be you!

THE VACCINES DON'T CAUSE BLOOD CLOTS.

Something like 6 people in over 6 million have suffered from blot clots after having the vaccine. They would have suffered from the blood clot whether they had the vaccine or not.

I think 150 people have suffered a broken leg after being knocked down on their way home. The vaccine isn't responsible for that either.

IF YOU'RE THAT WORRIED FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T READ THE LEAFLET INSIDE A PACK OF PARACETAMOL!!!

In the countries you mention (and others) the incidence of "clotting" could be ten thousand times higher than AZ or JJ and it wouldn't be revealed, certainly not widely publicised .

It's still a very early rollout of the vaccines,so potential side effects can be flagged at any stage, the gov.uk website goes more in depth about confirmed side effects and it is being updated regularly.

Everyone keeps saying you can get blood clots from this and that fact is the government is asking millions of people to trust them and take this vaccine so no matter how low the risk might be it needs to be looked into even if its to put peoples minds at ease

It is being looked into of course as a matter of urgency as is the J&J one . On top of that they are continually monitoring all vaccines . That is how they discovered these one in several million occurrences .

Leannexxx did you look at Lauren's chart above? Do you smoke, take the pill or run a risk of getting Covid (don't answer that it's a rhetorical question) if so you are hugely more likely to get a blood clot and as someone else has said, just sitting around more is a contributing factor too. (Wouldn't be surprised if that is what has caused some of them). That is why people who do long haul flights can get blood clots but I bet it doesn't put them off flying. Sorry, just noticed Pjran has already said that.

I don't know about China, but can say regarding Russia ,their vaccine is really good. And lots of countries want to get it, its just EU who still didn't approved it. People should have a choice if they want take a vaccine. If I would be able to chose I would definitely choose " Sputnik ".

I'll have to take your word for it that the Sputnik is good ( As I'm not a biochemist or even a Doctor ) . Are the Russians even monitoring the effects of their vaccine ? If they are and found an adverse reaction in 1 person in 10million would they announce it , Hmmm ?

The Chinese , Russians and indeed the West are supplying vaccine to many countries to gain influence . Still its a step forward from supplying them with arms to achieve the same aim (except all are still doing that too 🙄😔 ) .

Golfforall Why would they not? Yes it is good,I view some life news where there was comparing Sputnik vs other vaccines, and there was admitted that Russia did a good job. And it wasn't russian news !!! Russia scientists are good. I will not have argument ,because every one can have own opinion. But not need to make your conclusion about Russia only from media and propaganda.

NatalyKroxa The russian vaccine does seem pretty decent but it didn't go through normal safety trials and there was no peer reviewed analysis before it was released so people were bound to be suspicious of it but it does turn out to be a decent vaccine unlike the basic Chinese and Indian vaccines which have very low efficacy and may be completely ineffective against the new strains. We don't know the fine details about Sputnik though and how many people have died due to it because we don't have that data but the efficacy is good.

I agree there is too much propaganda regarding vaccines, the Oxford vaccine has been shown to be the safest by the data and has a very high efficacy but that is not what is presented in the media where they focused on the very marginal increase in brain blood clots compared to the pfizer vaccine but did not compare the much higher tendency of blood clots with pfizer in the stomach compared to the Oxford vaccine. As far as I know we don't even have data on blood clots for Sputnik or the Chinese and Indian vaccines. Admittedly the Chinese and Indian vaccines are very basic, they just kill the virus and inject it into the body which is the classic simple way of making a vaccine, it works but has low efficacy with many viruses. The basic way they are produced means its unlikely you would blame blood clots on that vaccine.

I think there is always some risk of blood clots with a vaccine anyway as it creates an immune response which in itself could cause a blood clot in some people. Obviously covid causes a huge amount of blood clots because it creates such a huge immune response.

I had the pfizer vaccine but I wish I had the oxford vaccine for various reasons.

You’re more at risk of a blood clot when flying. That doesn’t stop people taking long international flights. Although it’s suggested to move around during the flight we travel in cattle class so that’s packed.

Safer to have it than not. An good example would be the Kenyan anti-vaccine doctor, Stephen Karanja, who has recently died due to COVID weeks after saying the vaccine was unnecessary. He may well be nominated for the next Darwin Awards - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-56922517

I am due to have my second jab on Wednesday but not looking forward to feeling nauseous and having a headache for a day. Not complaining though, it is a small price to pay. However I began to feel ill last night (felt like razor blades in my throat) and today feel cold and headachey so think I have picked up something from one of the kids I work with this past week, no cough though!

I am not sure if you can have jab if unwell so will have to phone surgery and ask.

BlueEyesX hello. No, I didn't have to postpone but haven't felt myself all day today. Bit shivery and tired so not sure if it is the back end of the cold, the rubbish weather or just being lazy as I laid in bed reading all afternoon!

Certainly not complaining though, glad it is now done, although news says third one to look forward to in Autumn

I just hope it’s not political. It’s so hard to know which information we should believe and which not.

Media has got too much power now days and can manipulate people’s opinions very easily

When it comes to China well....try to google their current covid situation. Literally zero information. Whatever they are trying to hide, they are very good at it xx

Mango4 so basically the jab isn't doing what it says on the can!

Although I was happy to have it, it does make you wonder about the efficacy of it. Unless they exposed people to covid after having the jab, and how many people would agree to that?

Lynibis Maybe the virus is mutating , who knows so difficult to know what information is correct and what is not, I suppose only time will tell. Currently we seem to be in a good position in the UK and I sincerely hope it stays that way , but that is nothing more than hope at this stage
