DIY Christmas Gifts
Money Saving
Does anyone do any DIY Christmas gifts? I usually bake lots of Christmas biscuits and put them in jars that I’ve saved and washed from sauces etc, I put a square of paper on top and wrap some jute string around then to make them look a bit decorated. I give them to family and friends then and find they are always well received. Obviously takes a bit of time to make but it’s cost effective, ingredients cost a couple of pound but usually got most if not all ingredients in the cupboards anyway.
Especially now I’m thinking of doing more things like this to save a bit of money.
I think baking gifts is a lovely idea, I've baked Christmas biscuits for people in the past. It's a good idea to practice ahead of time though if it's something new. One year I tried making fudge for gifts and it was a disaster but a lesson learned!
I make decorated cupcakes for our neighbours and they seem to love them. I also make my mum a Christmas cake as part of her present
My mother in law bakes for people at Christmas. I don't as I just don't have the time to do these things in the run up to Christmas. But I think it's a great idea
. This is them. I do make cakes for a living but I have a massive soft spot for Xmas cupcakes x
I love making things for my loved ones but then I get second thoughts before I gift them, and worry they won't like what I've made, does anyone else get this?
Before having kids, I use to make candles as gifts for friends and family, they were always well received.
Midnightflower I’ve looked at making candles before, I’d like to give it a try. I was gifted a homemade candle once
I have baked things and given them as gifts in the past, but with the cost of butter so high it’s not as cost effective as before.
This is a really easy fudge recipe I use

Last year I made mini hampers for my brother in law and 2 adult children.
I made mince pies, mini Christmas cakes, cheese straws, chilli jam, bacon jam, mixed berry jam and grapefruit marmalade and Turkish delight vodka. They loved them so much and have asked me already if I’m doing again this year!
We don't other than i have ordered personalised presents from other places but last year our neighbour baked amazing Christmas cookies with our names on and they were amazing and so thoughtful.
