DIY Home Made Scented Candle's from Olive Oil (Super Easy) and Cheap.

Other

I am like many people I just love a fragrance candle all year round.

But like everything else at the moment prices are starting to hike and they can get quite expensive, so i began to do a little research in to home made candles and i must say it has opened my eyes as to how easy it can be and also so natural and safe.

Here is my Favourite one.

The Olive oil Scented candle (super easy to make and cheap)

What you need:

Wide Mouth glass Jar

Olive Oil

Wire or a Paper Clip

#2 Wick or 1/4 Lantern Wick or if you can make your own at home.

Depending on how long you want your candle to burn you can pick different thicknesses of wick.

HOW TO.

1.Cut the wick a couple of inches long. Wrap part of the wire or paper clip wire around one end of the wick. Wrap it tight enough that the wick can’t fall down but not so tight that you can’t move the wick up when you need to.

2, Bend the wire so it hooks onto the side of the jar.

  1. add in some rosemary from the garden or a scent of your choice (scented oils) then add your olive oil and that is it.

Let me know what you think enjoy xx

Isn't this a bit dangerous? Surely the oil would flare if knocked over? Especially if spilled on skin. I am happy to be proved wrong though.

Lynibis Thanks for pointing this out so i looked in to this and found one suggestion i hope with say a jam jar get the lid and hammer a small hole in the top just enough for the wick to pop through Image im going to do more research.

Thanks for posting this idea. I’m tempted to try it but hesitant as it could spill easily. Let us know if you find a solid cheap perfumed one please.

We can't use candles anymore but when we did, my husband would make new candles out of the old ones. Just kept the wax till he had a good amount, melted down, added a wick and we got 2 large candles out of it.

pinkyperky I'm glad you're enjoying making the candles. I have seen lots of guides on the net, and they can look so pretty in jars that they would be nice to give as birthday or Christmas gifts to friends and family. I know that I would really appreciate something like that as it would be very personal. 😀
