Does Anyone Else Find That Facebook is Getting More and More Boring?
Other
When I first joined Facebook back in 2009 I was always on there and it was the first thing I'd do in the morning and the last thing at night. But now that I am getting older I would say that I have lost around 95% of my interest in it since then and now I only log into Facebook around once a day or something and only stay on there for around 5 minutes checking posts, to which always seem to be topics of no importance and small talk, as well as the odd notification to play some mediocre game.
I think Facebook has lost its novelty now. It is after all 15 years years old and many better ways of keeping in touch with friends and family have been released since then.
I mostly use it now just to see deals posted by certain pages. And uploading photos from holidays. And getting angry about political stuff.
I agree! Lately, I'm finding my face twitch as I read some of the comments - when did it become so intolerant, judgemental and downright aggressive? I know it has always been a bit troll-fuelled but in the last six months I've seen a steep decline. The swearing and relentless baiting is evident every day on many different groups. There are times when I just want to scream at some "show a bit of intelligence and scroll on!".
Intelligence is becoming harder and harder to find on Facebook and some other social media sites.
RegularComper90 It's beginning to look a lot like the rude bug is evident here too. No matter how polite the mods are they are being challenged in such a blatant way. You'd have been proud of me....... I scrolled on.
Lots of ads. Especially from Wish which i never use, i don't have the app and i certainly have never searched up the sheer **** that it suggests for me
I'm the same, I look at a couple of retail pages I follow and that's it, my feed is full of ads too so I never scroll down it now. I deleted a lot of people too, anyone that made me look at the screen and say WTF went, it felt great, a bit like a detox I imagine. When social media dropped the social bit and turned to troll media if lost its appeal
Never been on it - its sad , for sad people ! Rather like being invited round to a friends house to view their holiday slides ! Get yourself down the pub and talk to real people face to face - and if you must show them your holiday snaps .
Aside from wishing people a happy birthday, entering the odd competition and following a few film related pages I don't use it that much. Plus, I've noticed most of my friends are posting a lot less. Although, it's still a good link to friends who live further afield that I rarely contact, but still wouldn't want to lose touch with them.
Yep, when I think back to when it first started, what it had compared to now. Some features have improved and some aspects haven't. I don't use it as often to post things etc more to browse and keep in touch
I cant even remember the last time I logged into my FB. I have messenger on my phone & still use that often but FB itself i dont use at all anymore. FB has always been full of self glorifying & attention seeking people.
I only use it for competitions, freebies and product trail posts. I've joined a few groups in a few interests I have mostly to just learn things. I'm not using it to post info about myself or talk to school friends I haven't seen in over 20 years because I did that severeal years ago and there's a reason why those people aren't in your life anymore. I found facebook mindnumbingly boring. I'm not interested in what people I have seen in 20 odd years doing.
Absolutely. I was in the same situation until last summer when I decided to close it. Like you I have better way of staying in touch with friends and family. I haven't missed it at all.
That's why I gave up on having an FB account. I didn't really use it and strangers kept asking me to add them as friends even though I didn't know any of them.
I agree, I hardly bother looking on there anymore! So many arguments stem from social media and everyone wants their opinion heard. I found myself in trouble at work after getting into a disagreement about animal hunting on a public post, in which the person reported me to my work place go try and get me in trouble!! Not worth the hassle!
I got into trouble at work too when I said I had been chatted up in a corridor and didn't know if it was a patient or a member of staff. I worked for the mental health section of the NHS at the time. I got a call at home from my line manager saying I had to take that down!!!
ShellyAnn omg lol! See though how social media just causes unnecessary aggro!
