If You Don't Opt into Weekly Emails, Can You Still Win Comps?

Soooooo, I was wondering, you know when you enter comps and you subscribe or agree to the terms, some of these comps give you the option of not receiving weekly emails etc. If you opt out, do you reckon you still stand a chance of winning the comp? My paranoia is telling me that these automatically generated programmes only pick those who opt in... get me? Advice peeps. Cheers!
This is something i have wondered too. Never won anything I am not receiving the newsletters for. May just be coincidental, I do like a conspiracy theory
I opt in just to be safe and then when I have time to through all my emails and unsubscribe those I no longer want. I do feel, human nature being what it is, they may sift out the ones who don't sign up. But remember, if you sign up you will get lots of deals and comps which you can share to earn points.
I entered a comp before that said in the ts and cs that only those who were still opted in at the time of the draw would be entered into to competition to win. So if you opt in and unsubscribe then you weren't entered 
I haven't seen that on any comps before, so I don't think it's absolutely necessary to opt in to emails on most.
