Dressing Gown or Housecoat?
Ask a Question
I'm curious to find out what everyone else calls this item of nightwear, their dressing gown or housecoat?
Dressing gown for me. I find it really strange when people call it a house coat, sounds like something from Downton Abbey
I call it a dressing gown but in certain areas of Scotland it is common for it to be known as a house coat. I don't actually own a dressing gown, my son is the only one who has a dressing gown in our house.
Dressing gown for sure! I love mine, wear it most times even with heaters on full. Keeps me nice and warm
I've always called it a dressing gown. I have several of them, thick and thin ones for different times of the year.
I always called it a dressing gown until I got with my husband now I call it a housecoat lol
Dressing gown. Housecoat isn't right. It's like calling slippers 'House shoes'. Just aint happening
It’s always been dressing gown for me - I’ve never even heard of anyone using the term house coat before
Or it could be a bathrobe or robe or negligee or peignoir or wrap but mine is a dressing gown
Dressing gown for me everytime and I love mine as it’s soft and fluffy. Especially when the weather is cold and during winter it’s a must have item.
Ha Ha Housecoat wtf! A coat is a piece of clothing with long sleeves which you wear over your other clothes when you go outside.
RegularComper90 Its just stupid! Also according to dictionary.com I cant wear one "a woman's robe or dress like garment in various lengths, for casual wear about the house" I'm wrong gender lol.
dressing gown .... House coat conjures up a quilted nylon button-up thingummy .... or a white doctor's coat!
I've never heard of a housecoat before you learn something everyday. I call it dressing gown or night robe.
Definitely dressing gown for me, house coat sounds strange. The whole point of a coat is to wear it outside so why would you have one for inside?
I call it a dressing gown! Although I don't really use mine. I'm not keen on the term house coat either!
