Ask a Question

As an older person looking to start learning to drive now many lessons does the average person have these days, all my friends and husband who are younger mentioned about 15 to 20 but i am sure its more than that now.

Maybe your best learning in a automatic car so no gears. You will be restricted to only driving them cars but I would think easier. I am always told learn to drive but with all the fools on roads today am happy on my feet.

Totally depends , some people find it really difficult ,some really seem to have an aptitude for it . Helps of course if you have access to a car/driver to practise in between lessons .

Don't know about average and I would not worry about average its depends on lots of things I have been told it's a good idea to have passport first helps with paperwork.

Good luck my daughter is going to learn soon possibly next year .

Well for a start they did not have theory tests back in the day. I can't remember how many lessons I had, probably about 20 but definitely less rather than more. They do say you need more the older you are, as with most things. I passed first time which really galled the woman down the road who had her test same day and failed......she was having an affair with my old man!

Lynibis I no longer bother with soaps, but I'd certainly give Lynenders a go. 😀

I think that depends on individuals. I'm sure I had about 100 lessons with 3 different instructors. Its important that you find a good instructor some just waste you're money and time

I bought a pack of 10 lessons from a driving instructor as it was an offer £65 if I remember rightly but he was quite a poor instructor so jumped ship after the 10th lesson. I think I had about 22 lessons in total and past first time. I also had a couple of lessons with my brother but his larger car was rubbish to learn in and after a long day working he was tired and short tempered so neither of us I think thought it would be ideal to continue. I also had my Mini Clubman Estate but it was in a poor state and kept breaking down so not ideal for learning in either.

i took around 8 months to learn to drive but I think I could’ve done my test a lot earlier if I had the confidence... I was convinced I was going to fail so kept putting it off, I passed first time with no minors 🤦🏻‍♀️
