Eat out Savings
Ask a Question
Who has been taking advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme?
We’ve been out 4 times - Wetherspoons twice, Pizza Hut (with the Meerkat 2 for 1 Meals used alongside the 50% off) and Subway - I couldn’t believe how many people in Subway were taking away and paying the full price!
We’ve spent £49 and saved £71 in total
We've been to our local Morrisons cafe 3 times, once with my mother in law, once with my husband and son and once just my son and me when the car was in the garage. Spent £15 in total across the 3 visits. Brilliant value.
No I’ve not used the offer. I’m still being careful and not going out. Is it really worth up to £10 off a meal with the chance of catching the virus?
Some of us have already had the virus and the growing evidence is you will have immunity at least for a few years and more recent info states those who had the original Sars virus are also immune to Covid 19, 14 years later because the virus is near identical. So many will be safe to go out and no longer contagious either.
So far I've been taking advantage of the offer everyday it's been running. Often visiting multiple places in a day. Yesterday I went to Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream in China Town for a toasted cheese flavoured ice-cream sandwich and iced purple yam latte. Then visited Crosstown Doughnuts for a Yuzu & Passion fruit doughnut, which is made with a beetroot sourdough
It's a toasted sandwich with cheese flavoured ice-cream inside (or another flavour of your choice). Not convinced it's worth £6.50, but happy to try it for £3.25
To be honest I have been watching too much Kitchen Nightmares and I doubt I will ever go out for a meal again!
I do feel this scheme is a bit misleading because of course you are saving nothing unless you were going out to eat at these places anyway. If you were only going to use the scheme then you are saving nothing, just spending money you would not have done otherwise.
Organ your right to be cautious. But I check the distancing of where I’m seated, wash hands after I touch anything and do not react with people but just be polite. Mask at all times. Govts don’t give us much so why not enjoy it will be over soon
Haven't used this once but I use the foodhub discount for new members. It's a great initiative to bring back up the economy of small businesses
I haven't used this as i don't want to dine in any restaurant in current times. I feel sorry for a lot of pubs/restaurants as the scheme looks good on paper but is a nightmare for some places, trying to get a weeks worth of customers served in 3 days.
Been out for lunch during work every mon-wed during August and have used this eat out offer. Loving it.
Not used it too many people are abusing it who do you think is going to pay for your half price food the tax payers of course. Ask yourself if was full price and you had to claim you refund would you have still done it if had to wait 6 weeks for refund. It should have been one voucher per household.
No one is really abusing it. The government website states you can use it 'as many times as you like'. The scheme was designed to encourage people to dine out again and spend money. It will cost tax payers more if lots of restaurants and cafes permanently close. This will also have a negative impact on suppliers and other industries. Even more people would be forced to join the ever increasing unemployment line.
I've thought about it but I'm not sure its worth the risk chin straps and 2" social distancing might not work aswell as people hope
I haven’t used it as I don’t eat out anyway due to food allergies. I’ve been ill too many times after eating out with food allergies despite telling the staff I have allergies and requesting products that shouldn’t contain the things I’m allergic to. It’s not worth the risk to me since even if I didn’t get the virus, I could be sick from my food allergies.
Only a couple of times out with the family. The energy of the people out dining is amazing, something I’m sure people have missed.
