Enid Blytons Books Are Now Confirmed to Be Edited to Remove Offensive Words

In the News

Now the woke brigade have succeeded in changing Enid Blytons famous five books and are getting so called 'offensive' words removed such as idiot, queer , gay and even brown , referring to a persons face

They are even removing words such as crazy, roly-poly, overweight and plump ???

When will it all end, when every book ever written has been altered ??

I dread to think of the final cost of this woke excercise, , but some editors are going to make a fortune out of this , i wonder if it was them that suggested the change ?

They should be looking at computer games instead of books, full of violence and blood and gore, that are known to affect children adversely over time , and are easy to get hold of despite their rating

Jerseydrew This type of censorship takes all the innocence away from the meaning of childrens' books in my opinion J

It's pathetic, luckily I still have a few original Enid Blyton books, unedited 🙂 what a crazy world right now. I agree we are bombarded with Tik Tok videos that are targeting youngsters with a lot of nonsense, violent games, streets are rife with crime, ...but let's look at books 😬😬x

nina090976 Exactly N, this is the way communists behave, censoring people from having a freedom of choice to do and say as they please, and the UK is supposed to be a democracy 🙄

Sensitivity readers are sadly not very good writers. Start collecting old books. They might be worth something one day lol. Characters need quirks and foibles. They'll be hammering away at Chaucer, Dickens and Shakespeare before long and re writing them with random words chucked into an A1 generator .People who burn books and libraries have been with us from old it's cultural murder!

MelissaLee1 What surprises me M is the complacency of people in the UK over this

There should be a barrage of protests over this censorship but everyone is just so quiet about it and not phased in the least

If it was in Italy or France for example people would be in the streets protesting

Look what happened the other day with Macron when he increased the pension age in France

We don't get that here , yes we get a few waving placards over pay shouting at passing traffic 'what do we want' and striking for a few days , but cultural issues that affect our history nobody seems interested about anymore, and that is why the government do what they want and why if one or two people decide a book that we have had in print for decades offends them it will be rewritten, absolutely nuts !

telmel Yes. The French know how to kick up. We are renowned for our stiff upper lip. Perhaps we now need to quiver it a little lol.
