I do this allo the time. saves a fortune. lots of things are quite simple to repair yourself
Unless I already know how to do a repair - I always look up how it should be done. Twice in the last week once for a leaky toilet bowl (that's pending) and the other time for a laptop.
I am going to upload DIY Brain Surgery ... But I can't find a volunteer.
very good idea indeed. plumbers cost a fortune and often it is simple enough to fix if you check out you tube first

Changed a motor on Dyson Upright, Changed bulbs on my car, Installed CCTV all You Tube, Bit time consuming but learn a new skill along the way and if I screw it up I can only blame myself!
The pressure valve went on my electric shower - bought a pack of two for about £11 online, watched a YouTube video and replaced it myself; dread to think what a plumber would have charged.
