Do You Ever Have a Sarnie Day?

Ask a Question

I love a nice sarnie with fresh bread and butter. Being a lazy moo I often can't be bothered to cook for myself so i have a sandwich for lunch and evening meal but never eat breakfast.

I thaw some prawns, throw in some chopped seafood sticks and bind together with my homemade marie rose sauce.....delicious. And of course no sandwich is complete without a bag of crisps!

What is your favourite filling?

I sometimes do this on holiday, although I've usually gorged myself at the breakfast buffet at the start of the day.

Can't beat Cheese & Pickle, or Pastrami with Gherkin and dijonnaise

I usually go to Boots the Chemist and buy their "Eat Me Quick" sandwiches reduced (50p-£1.00). My favourite one is the triple sandwich consisting of roast chicken or beef, salad and a cheese ploughman for my lunch.

jam45 I do buy shop bought sarnies but I have to try very hard not to imagine the mass production line, the preservatives etc.

I'm not a massive sandwiches lover. I only really eat egg sandwich. Though I like cream cheese and cucumber. Especially on brown bread

Jerseydrew cream cheese and cucumber sounds nice for a summer afternoon tea or picnic. Egg mayo is one of my favourites, also tuna mayo but they are both more flavoursome made with salad cream instead of mayo. (Also nice in a potato salad with finely chopped onion).

Lynibis I tend to go for things like soup year round but that's cos I'm fussy about sandwiches and get bored quickly with them. Yes cream cheese is lovely for afternoon tea. Cream cheese and roasted vegetables is lovely as well.

I do like a sandwich and most days for lunch I will have a cheese and marmite sandwich, sometimes toasted. And yes if I don’t fancy a big dinner in the evening I will have another one.

Sandwiches are so convenient, they are easy to make, can do so many different things and they’re quick and portable

jms19 so so true but the bread has got to be ultra fresh. One of my other fave fillings is grated hard cheeses (just cheddar or a selection) finely chopped onion and mayo all mixed together.......yummy.

Lynibis Have you seen the price of cheese? I can no longer afford to buy it.

jam45 I buy probably a block per month from Sainsbury's,think it's called Mary something or other and cheaper than their own. I grate the whole block because you tend to use less when grated. Always on hand for sarnies, on top of Bolognese, making a cheese sauce for macaroni cheese etc.

TheChimp swap the ham for smoked salmon and I'm with you, though the price of it means a rare treat!

TheChimp That sounds really awful. Cream cheese, tiger bread (I only buy it when either Asda or Tesco reduces the price to 10p - 20p). The tiger bread doesn't taste like a normal bread.

Favourite filling is cooked roast chicken but make at home. Not many cafes do it any more. I also can’t stand mayonnaise or salad. Just butter, sweetcorn ok though.
