Expensive Cauliflower

In the News

So the extreme weather has destroyed the cauliflower crops this year

It’s not a staple for me, but I know how widely used it is

What do you think of this?

Yes I saw that one earlier today. Also not a staple for me as I prefer a broccoli. Well these things happen if everything gets flooded. Not sure what we can do about it except wait for the next crop!

I prefer broccoli also. However, all of a sudden I now fancy cauliflower as it’s been ages since I had any lol πŸ˜‚

Not just cauliflower....lots of rain makes the vegetables rotten....

Just hope one of my cukkini will survive

Cabbage, broccoli and brussel sprouts are in short supply. Aslong as they get some more for christmas, probably wouldnt eat any until then πŸ˜‚

Good job it's just the yucky vegetables in short supply then! Could easily live without any of those πŸ˜‹

I wonder if that’s why the local supermarkets seem to sell greyish looking ones instead of crisp white ones.

I love cauliflower topped with crisp breadcrumbs fried in a little butter. Try it before you judge. Our local Miller & Carter do a cauliflower wedge as part of a dish and it is amazing. I suppose it's usually considered a bland option but you can easily zhuzh it up with a bit of thought. It always seems to be the expensive option on the shelves but, perhaps, that's because it is so easily affected by wet weather conditions.

I noticed this at the weekend as we were trying to get cauliflower for cauliflower cheese with our roasts and went to 3 supermarkets before calling it a day. Hopefully itll recover soon.
