Are We Falling out of Love with Tea?

PG Tips and Lipton tea brands could be sold by consumer goods giant Unilever because they are falling out of favour with the public

I rarely buy these brands, and for black tea I usually go for Yorkshire Gold

What brands of tea do you drink?

What do you think of this?

Its Ringtons in our house for proper tea, Yorkshire tea if we run out & enjoy the occasional Clipper green tea. PG tips is awful so I'm not surprised they arent selling anymore.

Lol I have to agree. We used to drink PG tips but then I got introduced to Yorkshire and haven’t looked back since. I’ve never tried Ringtons - is it strong? If so, I must try it out some time

hspexy Ringtons traditional (green pack) are very similar to Yorkshire but just slightly stronger. My MIL still gets Ringtons doorstep service so she gets them for us. I always have a box of Yorkshire in cupboard tho.

I've never really bought these brands. I mainly drink Earl Grey, different types of green tea (not Lipton),

rooibos and a few others.

I love Earl Grey tea but like to make it properly in a teapot. My boss is the only other person I know who likes it so we indulge if he pops in for a cuppa.

Lynibis So you are quality as well Lynn lol

Yeah teapot and in a china cup it does taste different when done properly and not just a teabag in a mug.

When i am home in Slovakia i go to a magic tea shop in Bratislava just off the main square in the old town and they sell it loose with the flowers and rind still in it - the difference between real earl grey and the teabags we get in the UK is night and day but its quite expensive even in Slovakia but well worth it!

They have over 100 teas all in big bowls Cherry tea, Hawaiin tea, pineapple tea you name it and about 5 different types of earl grey its a real costly visit for me lol

I tend to just buy the supermarket own. Not that I get to drink tea these days.

When I went sugar free (have not totally suceeded) I gave it up in tea and coffee. I managed quite well with coffee but not so tea, to me it tastes vile without sugar. But, I do not want to have too much coffee so only have one each morning. I got fed up with just drinking water so have now begun drinking Pukka herbal teas, especially turmeric (it's meant to be a wonder spice) and I add a slice of lemon. So my tea consumption has gone up, but not with conventional tea!

I like the Pukka teas, I often use the bedtime one, also really like the 3 Fennel tea if I fancy something different.

Ah yes, green tea should always be consumed without anything else added 😊 I know that not everyone likes the taste, but I’ve always loved green teas

I heard about this on the Radio, i dont think we are. I like to think I'm keeping the tea industry going but there has been a rise in coffee.

I guess there’s so many coffee varieties, and coffee has perhaps a more fashionable image. I love teas, but there is indeed a more cosy image attached to it - think tea cosies and saucers lol

hspexy ive drank tea since I was a child i need a cuppa first thing. I don't like coffee. I still think black tea is popular in the home most people buy takeaway coffees or have machines in their homes

Nope! I'd rather drink tea than coffee because I can't stand coffee breath - all those of you who only drink coffee will never know........just us tea drinkers. 😂😂😂 I enjoy a Singl coffee but not regularly. Can't beat an Earl Grey when you have a little extra time or a favourite with a splash of milk.

I only like tea with a little bit of sugar so don't tend to drink much of it nowadays as I'm trying to avoid sugar a lot of the time. I use stevia as my main sweetener and its vile in tea but fine in coffee which has a bitterness to mask the bitterness of stevia.

I've never liked, nor have I drunk tea in the whole of my life. There is something about the taste that really turns my stomach, funny really my dad drank tea, my mother coffee and neither drank the opposite.

I drink a ridiculous amount of tea 🙈 but I’m not fussy on brands I will just buy supermarket own version. obviously if I go somewhere else and have a cuppa I can taste the difference but it’s not enough for me to justify the price 😊
