False Eyelashes in School? One School Thinks It's Fine.

Other

Where is this ever going to end? I know i am an old fuddy duddy but sometimes modern views are not the best way to go. Personally i think they look awful and unnatural and along with a face full of make up school kids are hiding the real person behind a facade.

Rely on personality, not looks and save the warpaint for special occasions.

If everyone started from a base line of no make up at all, no mobile phones (except to and from school for safety), decent length skirts, it would drastically cut bullying and arrogance. I know i am on a losing side but it seems to me kids were a lot happier a few decades ago.

I don’t see how they would have to the time besides anything else. I’m not totally against make-up though as long as it is a ‘natural’ look, not full paint. I wore mascara and didn’t need anything false. I mean falsies can fall off and land anywhere so not good in my opinion.

JLouM Apparently time putting them on and off was part of this schools argument and of course mental health came into it as well.....omg we must have all been totally bonkers in my day then with no false eyelashes to keep us sane!

Leannexxx I wasn't allowed to wear make up until I was nearly 16 just before starting work and then only lipstick and powder. It looked ridiculous so I didn't bother as I needed mascara due to totally blonde eyelashes! I did feel hard done by but my parents were OTT strict.

I don't like seeing very young children using make up for play as once they start doing that it is hard to stop them using it. Girls look so much older with make up but yes the natural look is better and polls show most men prefer the natural look.

Lynibis I agree with you I only was allowed a little foundation and mascara my kids never played with make up as I hardly use it myself anymore in all honesty just coz I can't be bothered do it

I'm good with all that.No phones or make up when I went to school and all went perfectly well.No fashion rivalry either just standard uniform.

I hate all this ‘fake’ stuff. It just makes you look tacky. I think it has its place for enhancement or medical issues but only in a subtle and discreet way. Not teenagers walking around like a permanent Christmas tree.

JLouM what a great comment, I do agree with you. Some young girls can't tell the difference between looking attractive and looking like a clown!

I’m sure most on school aren’t thrilled about it but they’ve got to pick their battles. I remember when i was at school 20 years ago they were always trying to enforce uniform policy and there was students who never listened.

jms19 well I truly believe they should be suspended until they comply and let parents deal with the disobedience. Adults are too afraid of their kids and should learn to set boundaries early on.

Lynibis i think that’s a big part of the problem, some of the parents themselves don’t care so what do the school do?

jms19 Absolutely, one wonders why some people have kids as they can't be bothered to guide and teach.

Personally, I'd prefer children having a simple childhood and ideally without having to keep up with fashion, make-up and everything else that's commercially-led.

Loads of my pupils wear make up and false eyelashes and really long false nails. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. As long as they are there and are trying to learn it doesn't bother me how much make up they have on.

we need to get rid of social media and go back to how it was. Life now is much more demanding on looks than it has ever been. We are all beautiful we don't need make up caked on or false eye lashes to be beautiful.

momhobnob666 I think it can sometimes have the opposite effect and as I said above make you look like a clown.

Another thing that's entirely unnecessary. The powers that be should debate the dismal education curriculum instead...
