Do You Have a Budget on a Family Member's Birthday Gift?
Other
do you set prices on gifts or just go by what you think they would like?
Yes I do budget for all family members. I don't usually go over £20 and that includes card and gift bag. I only go over if i've made extras from money apps such as curios cats and onepoll. If i go over its usually by £5.
thats about what i spend also, come christmas i do spend more because i tend to think what i spend doesnt look enough. thanks for your comment
Yes, £25 for the younger nieces and nephews but the teenage ones get about £35 spent. I don't have a budget for my mum and partner i get them something nice that she'll like.
I have budget for kids whice is they get 50 and 100 if a special birthday other family members i buy in sales or look on amazon under a fiver no need to spend loads
Depends who its for! My kids, wife and parents then something they like. For other people usually up to £20.
It depends. I spend more for milestone birthday gifts, but in general I try to keep costs low, trying to find s9nething they’d like AND doesnt cost too much
No I don't because I don't get them Christmas presents. I want to get them something special for them. This is immediate family, i dont buy for cousins.
I dont really have a budget I get something they would like but in reason. I wouldn’t spend a fortune
i think thats fair enough though usually if i think of something thats expensive my mum usually suggests going halfs which makes life easier lol
ahhh see i have a big family, i have 3 sisters 1 brother 5 nephews 4 nieces and have 5 kids my self, so xmas can get rather pricey
I usually put £20 in a card for nieces & nephews unless they've asked for something. Dont buy gifts for siblings. OH I buy what ever hes asked for (can vary) I tend to spend around £50 - £70 on my own children. However my youngest is going to be 18 this year so will get more spent, a special keepsake gift & il pay for a family meal out somewhere nice.
yes we spend about that on our kids to. not including our day out on their birthdays but xmas i try to spend all round the same amount which can be difficult as one of my sons is in to rare stuff lol.
Currently having this discussion with my fiancé... it’s his dads 60th birthday and he wants to spend upwards of £200 on him... (we do not have £200, we have to budget every month, he doesn’t earn enough to save any money each month and he’s got a large credit card debt to pay off). I think we should spend around £70, but I’m not a family person at all and I don’t get on with my dad, so I wouldn’t spend more than £10 on him! Maybe I just don’t understand...
oh that is alot, see im a big family person but i have 5 kids so money isnt exactly at my biggest dispose but i do like to treat my loved ones. its a hard one really isnt it
dholly39 we spend £200 on each other and his son for Christmas and birthdays but we spread that cost over 3-4 months.. it’s unlucky his dads birthday is right after Christmas and we cant afford to spend that much on another person
I don’t budget for anyone, but family wise I only buy for my mum and dad, my two sisters and there partners, my grand parents and my partner
I don't buy birthday presents for my siblings as we usually just go for a meal or something and split it between us, but no budget for my parents! I tend to just buy things they need (at least what I think they need )
I budget for all family members as they don't need anything and also whatever I buy never gets used and I hate wasting money. I'm not going to spend loads on gifts that probably end up in the bin or in a charity bag. I now try to box clever and buy things in the sales or are reduced so they think I've spent more than I have.
