Murphy is a MainCoon cat, one of the oldest natural breeds from North America
He’s just a whisker away from beating the record for world’s largest cat, and at just one year old, he still has some growing to do.
He weighs 11 kilos and is 104cm long
I am glad i am not paying his food bill the owner is spending £60 a month at present
He also needs a reinforced litter tray for his ablutions, not something i would relish emptying myself
Let's hope the catflap is big enough for him to get through though

Sure doesn't look like a dog regardless of size, but he could easily pass for a wild cat. Beautiful big kitty.
PhilipMarc I think they are just comparing him to the size of a dog rather than the appearance P, and as you say beautiful
I have always appreciated the beauty of Maine C cats but I couldn't imagine trying to brush a cat 
Murphy is stunning, but I do think most of that article was just filler - it's common that kittens chew through cables (well and other animals chew through cables) You'd have thought after the first few they would have bought protectors though, rather than letting him much through £300 worth of cables.
I'm not denying he's a big cat - he's certainly big and beautiful. But saying a cat gets mistaken for a dog, there are so many different breeds of dog Chihuahua to a Great Dane.
My grandfather's dog, if she ever got out there were reports of a wolf on the loose, because of her shaggy grey look.
To be fair though if you see something and believe it is something, it can start to look a lot like it.
I'm glad Murphy is a cuddler though, he certainly looks like a he'd give a good cuddles, although I'm always cautious with kitty cuddles 
What a beautiful cat, I'm a huge cat fan and always had cats around, just have the one at the moment 'Conker' but would love a Main **** like that although I don't think Conker would appreciate it, he is about 4kg so 11kg is almost 3x his weight/size. I think Conker would be a nervous wreck if one of those turned up.
I have never heard of or seen a Maincoon cat before. Absolutely off putting to look at.
oh wow i bet he is absolutely gorgeous. im a real animal lover they are such good companions they really are
