Finally Finished My Hallway

Ask a Question

I have finally finished my hallway apart from putting up pictures and new lights up. Started in January. Has anyone else decorated and taken this long?

Well this is the third year I have said I will paint front of my house! Also I bought paint for garden fences last year and still keep putting it off. I really must stop procrastinating!!!!

Lynibus I usually do the fence in 1 hour slots then it is not too tedious πŸ˜„

julie781x yes I am definitely doing a few panels at a time.

The front of my house is brickwork to the groundfloor then a flat roof about 4 foot side before rising up again for the second story, so to be honest the ground floor frontage isn't very high, step ladder only needed.

Where the garage was made into the diner, brickwork doesn't match so I really must get it done as upper storey is painted frontage.

Lynibis Just remove the letters R O C R S T A from procrastinating if you want to get painting.

Very clever davidstockport actually I have found another reason to procrastinate, I have ordered a paint sprayer/brush which can supposedly do a fence panel in 3 minutes. I actually posted it as a deal as it was quite well reduced.

(It can be seen in my shares page).

Lynibis The only problem I've found with time saving gadgets is that by the time you've set them up, then after using needed to clean them and put them away etc. It's taken twice as long to do the job than If you hadn't used them.

I'm getting to the state where I consider that many things supposed to help are just something else to go wrong.πŸ˜€

It was strange how the letters of PAINTING were contained in the word PROCRASTINATING - in the correct order, it kind of jumped out at me when I read it.

Tom when you're finished, you can come around to ours! Got a list as long as your arm of odd jobs that mysteriously never get started, nevermind finished πŸ€£πŸ˜„

julie781x I think you will find after a few years that plastic skirting (unless a very dark colour) will get scuffed and discoloured and need painting or special cleaning.

I wanted to paint my garden fences and to help my son out financially I said I would pay him £100. I made the mistake of giving him the £ before he finished. It it took him about six months, to do two coats on a small back garden! Lots of nagging, but as he had taken the £ he needed to complete the job 😊

I stripped off all the wallpaper in my hall and stairway about 20 years ago . Still waiting for inspiration to complete 😊 . Surprising how the bare plaster look grows on you when you have no partner nagging you to get it finished 🀣.

Ann1984 Just a tip - IF the panels will lift out it's much easier to paint them when they're lying flat on the ground.(well that's what I found)πŸ˜€

Ann1984 All the kids in that story got was "conned" into paying Tom for doing his chores for him. (that story came into my mind when you mentioned kids painting the fence).πŸ˜€

We've been decorating the house since last October. Been doing it in stages though. The whole house got painted, then new blinds, then new lighting, then new accessories for each room. We did it in stages as we had the time to do it that way. Only thing that still needs done is the fence and decking but we haven't had the weather to do it.

My neighbour apparently started painting the outside of his house twenty years ago. He painted the gable as far as a roller and long handle would reach and then left the rest. It has stayed like that ever since!

My husband started my kids bedroom and stripped the walls, waited 3 months for him to start tackling the decorating of it. Luckily my eldest had given up his bedroom so the little ones could have a bedroom while we waited. In the ended up doing the plastering and decorating, I think I did an okay job considering πŸ˜‚
