Finally! TLK Film Airs on Netflix on 14th April.

Other

I had begun to think it was fake news about this film as I read they finished filming around January 2022.

If you haven't seen or heard of The Last Kingdom then there is a big void in your life which needs to be filled.

During my life I have watched some amazing stuff but this is right up there. You have got almost 2 months to catch up on five series, or, take your time and relish the film (Seven Kings Must Die) when you're done.......you won't regret it.

beccatavender have you actually watched the series? It is so good but then it is all relative isn't it, if you don't like a particular genre.......................

As you know I love historical stuff but it is so much more than that, full of emotion, human drama etc. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying it but then that's me lol!

Bossclaz when I had watched most of the series and kept raving about it to my younger son and his wife, they would roll their eyes eyes and 'nah don't like all that olden days stuff'.

When they visited one day I put episode one on without saying anything. Gradually the conversation died, even my grandson looked up from his phone. After a while my son asked what it was and you can imagine his surprise when I told him.

That evening my daughter in law texted and said they had just finished episode 3 and loved it. It was her who told me about the film coming out date as she follows Uhtred on Instagram!

Thanks for posting this Lynibis I've been keeping a watchful eye on the site for an update on the film so I'm grateful for the reminder. (been having withdrawal symptoms - missing TLK ) 😆

sunny101 me too! However, I will probably feel even worse when I have watched it and know there will be no more Uhtred to ever look forward to.

I have just started Bernard Cornwell's King Arthur books, I know you are a fan of his but I am again finding it hard to keep interested. Well into it but nothing has happened yet, just descriptions of loads of strange characters, too many at once so I lose track. Have you read? Do they get better?

Lynibis I did read the series some time ago but I agree that there were a few odd characters. I enjoyed the series but definitely prefer the Utred tales. I felt the same way about the Vikings series, when it ended. It's very much the case of wanting more but someone had the good sense not to drag them out beyond believability with wishy-washy, thin extensions.

sunny101 well if you haven't watched the Vikings Valhalla series yet I highly recommend it. Although it is set 100 years later than the original there are references to Ragnar, Bjorn and Lagartha etc. It is made by same team but once you get into it a very different series, I especially liked series 2 with a group of people travelling together down a river.

Lynibis I've already finished series 2. Thoroughly enjoyed it but should've rationed myself because it was watched too quickly - binged. Did you notice that Leo Suter was in Sanditon? (it was a bit of a weak series but I watched it and whinged a bit )

sunny101 no I didn't but he played a good part in VV. I was unsure of the Leif Eriksson actor at first but have warmed to him now. Did you know that Leif supposedly discovered America way before Columbus? He was apparently the great explorer of his age.

Lynibis I was aware that there was some evidence of Vikings reaching America first and I thought the last series alluded to it with Ubbe but that was probably artistic licence.

Travis Fimmel is worth a watch in Black Snow - quirky but watchable.

gdad69 I am sure you will enjoy if you liked Vikings. It is set in the same (almost) era. It revolves around the strained relationship between Uhtred and the adult Alfred who is now king. Uhtred is torn between being Viking or Saxon and you will see why in first couple of episodes.
