Football Fans Will Have to Pay Nearly £12 for a Beer at World Cup in Qatar

In the News

The price of beer in the UK pales in comparison to what the fans will pay in Qatar

Nearly £12 for less than a pint in the fan zones !!!

It was supposed to have been priced at £7 to £8

Some hotels charge up to £15 for a beer or a glass of wine

What made me smile though was that they are restricting the purchase to four beers per fan in case they binge drink to excess

I doubt that would happen without the restriction, who can afford those inflated prices ?

I thought Iceland was expensive but this takes the cake, all three tiers of it

If the fans can afford the inflated hotel prices, tickets and flights I’m sure a £12 beer won’t break the bank.

Pjran If it was only one or two P, but how many football fans do you think will be happy with that , or one glass of chardonnay ?

They wouldn't know what to do if they were sober, the terraces would be silent

Probably because drinking alcohol in public in Qatar is not allowed. Just restricted to a few bars. While Qatar should be ashamed of its human rights policy visitors should also respect local laws as we should expect visitors to our country to respect ours.

The royal family are trying to get it banned all together now, big debate going on between fifa and Budweiser.

but fans can have more than 4 they just can’t order more than 4 at one time.

as for pricing I can pay £9-10 a pint in a few pubs round here to try their imported guest beers. With normal prices £6-7 a pint and that’s in the northeast so I expect to pay more in the south.

if you go on holiday you don’t worry about a budget or what’s the point of going..

That price is terrible good thing I'm staying here I can get a few cans for that.

I really can't see the restrictions working as they hope some will definitely drink too much

I'm not really much of a beer drinker, I only buy cheap bear typically four cans for about £1. So something like a pint of it is only around 30p and to be honest I mostly use it to make shandy using diet lemonade which costs about 17p for 2 litres. So a pint of shandy (I don't use much beer) for about 8 or 9p, its my favourite alcoholic (mildly) drink after cider. I do drink beer on its own occasionally but not very often. It definitely helps with football though, as it dumbs you down a bit so just watching people run about a field is a bit more appealing.

The serial purveyor of Non News strikes again 😒 . Beer £12.50 in fan zones , as is a burger soft drink and fries . Alcohol NOT allowed in stadia (apart from in the corporate areas ) . Qatar is a Muslim nation governed iaw with Shariah law . If you can afford the thousands of pounds to get there and get a hotel room then I'm sure £12.50 a pint won't worry you ? Congratulations for yet another pointless Non News post ( D- ,must try harder 😒) !

Now here's someone that i would like to send to Quatar to practice his golf , but i couldn't see him affording the beer there , the drinks are a little more expensive than the golf club bar after losing every round , he would end up thousands in debt 😉
