Should Free Returns from Online Stores Be Banned?

I only mention it as my mother is a bit of a serial returner although in her case its often M&S and she does her returns to a local store. However prices are inflated online because of returns costs and that means serial returners are subsidised by those who pretty much just buy products and don't return. Such returns are costly for the environment, with extra energy and packing.
I'm not of course suggesting people pay returns for faulty or incorrectly described products but as a general rule for products people simply don't like.
However I do feel people should pay for returns whatever and if the items are faulty or wrongly described should then be refunded rather than allowed to just return for free initially.
Are you a serial returner yourself?
I'm guessing I might return 1 in 100 items myself and those are typically faulty or wrongly described. I can't really think of something that I just didn't like and expected to return it.
The other debate I guess is should we always pay for postage on online orders. This should mean lower prices for items and we are more likely to buy multiple items so could save repeated courier journeys to our properties.
I have never returned anything ever! I just write it or the seller off and give it away ,sell it on or donate to charity.
This is the problem with everything going online. I much prefer to see clothes in reality so I know the quality and fit. I rarely order online and usually buy clothes from supermarkets or charity shops as that is all that’s left. People started the trend online so they have to put up with their choices. I have not returned anything, just seems like hassle to me.
JLouM I was in Tesco the other day and when I looked left towards the clothing section I could see it was packed with customers. I'm guessing they are doing much better business now that so many other clothes stores have gone. A lot of elderly aren't online so they rely on physical stores.

Free returns should only be banned when shops start making the clothes at standard sizes and disclose proper measurements. I always have to order in more than size because you don’t know how they are going to cut them. I’m different sizes in the same store, it makes buying clothes a nightmare, I find it annoying to have to return clothes, I’ve better things to do.
Free returns should be allowed for the obvious reasons - product received may not have been the correct item or was delivered with marks or other issues. We recently received a bed with a huge rip in it! Of course I would want a free return at the least!
