Getting a Freebie for Test Driving a Car

Ask a Question

https://testdrivetreats.co.uk

I have never done this before and was wondering if anyone has tried it out? Is it quite an easy thing to do? Is it worth the bother? I don’t mind pushy salespeople, so I can deal with that if necessary...

This type of offer can have you virtually held hostage until you decide to leave without getting the "goodies". I checked this company out on TrustPilot and although the rating is excellent. that can easily be achieved with fake reviews. I'd suggest you always read the lowest rankings before you trust reviews, the number of abysmal reviews, just in the last few days, would urge me not to even consider having anything to do with them.

This might take you to the worst reviews. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.arnoldclark.com?stars=1

Remember you will have to select the car you want to test drive (with a view to purchase) in advance and will almost definitely need to have your own car valued for trade in, probably before you're allowed to test drive. They don't want to pay people just to test drive their cars.

hspexy You're welcome, here are some more reviews of the firm (don't read if you're easily offended). Also note how almost all that are favourable actually name a salesperson. Fake reviews almost shout out - but they're vastly outnumbered by genuine ones on this review site,

Incidentally I have never had any dealings with Arnold Clark (nor after reading the reviews would I want any) I hadn't even heard of them until your post.

I have read about some people that have gone into dealerships for a test drive, to be asked by the sales guy "do you just want the freebie, or do you really want the test drive?" because they'd rather not waste their time with the drive if they're not serious! Never done one myself though.

Last year Vauxhall were offering an amazon echo dot/show, fire tablet or a family day out for 4 to people that booked and took a car on a test drive with no obligation to purchase. I know a few people that did it, i didnt have the guts though as im not good with people and i dont like saying no 🤣

Lol they do try very hard to get people to buy, and usually line up the most persuasive and persistent sales people to do it. I usually like a challenge 😂
