Giant Artificial Bird Nests Are Being Built in the Ocean

Other

Danish wind farm company Ørsted has built three massive artificial bird nests off the coast of the UK with contractor Red7Marine. The structures are intended to help support the populations of kittiwake, a seabird species that may be impacted by the company’s nearby wind farm

I was surprised to read how many birds are killed by wind turbines, there are between 10,000 and 100,000 are killed every year in the UK

They are hoping these nests will encourage breeding and keep the numbers higher to counteract this

Wind farms are generally great. Downside is wildlife. If this helps the wildlife its got to be good

I wasn’t aware that they were harmful to bird populations. It’s good that they are trying to counteract the impact of this with these sort of schemes

telmel I don't think many birds will survive this nonsense. A man made colony for birds. Only a mad scientist or their kind could dream up such a pointless invention.

I suppose it's same as the artificial coral reefs they are doing, trying to reduce/ rectify the damage that's being done, let's hope it works x
