Can You See Your GP Face to Face?

I don't know if this applies to you but can you see your Gp face to face ?
For me due to Covid19 we were told in March that the doctor will only be speaking to the patient via the phone unless they deem it necessary to see them .
Thats same our doctors but mine did see me due to the amount of pain i was in and was rushed for scans.
It be like it in near furture i think too as it sounds easier for them
My surgery is phone consultations only unless they deem it necessary that you be seen in persons. You can still go for blood tests but it is now appointment based only. I believe it is the same for all GP surgeries now?
Even my last 2 appointments with hospital consultant have been over the phone.
So far I have only been to speak to a nurse over the phone who prescribed me some cream after I sent a photo of my mole/ wart. It did help. I also had to go for a blood test, which I did delay myself and I say the nurse.
It's the same in my area, only phone appointments. Some GP surgeries offer online/video appointments now too, mine mentioned starting something like that but it never happened.

If your ailment isn't necessary for a GP to assess, why would you need to try to make an appointment and clog up the surgery?
This might take a while to explain , Ive lived with numerous health issues over the years and 1 place I have to go to is a thing called the pain managment clinic . I got a letter from them saying because I have to see a cardiologist every 6 months I have to have a thing called a health check up , so they cover numerous things like my blood pressure , blood tests for different conditions and numerous other tests.I called the doctor surgery telling them I have been told to have this done and the receptionist said we will not be doing them but the reason the pain managment clinic need it so they can come up with a program to fit my needs .
I get a text @ the beginning of september saying I need to have a flu jab ,each week I would call them as I needed a flu jab , my son whose astmathic and my wife is astmathic as well . Each week they would tell me we dont have any but then will text me each week to say we all need them and each week I then call and get told the same each week . I asked could you please not send me the text as its really annoying me that you text and then they said 1 week we have sent letters out and you need to log on and book your flu jab . 1 week went by and no letter and the next week went by and I then called them the week later that the letters hadnt arrived and the receptionist said you admitted that I would never have received the letters as they were never posted ..
Belive me I can go on and on but hey ho I just keep on smiling .
stuartsmith544, you shouldn’t have to justify your need to see a GP. You have been asked by another department for a GP assessment. This is not ‘clogging up’ a service that is currently offering very little direct provision. It must be very frustrating for you, particularly as you have chronic pain. I hope you manage to see a GP soon.
I really appreciate your kind words. I was talking to my wifes nephew this morning whose a a&e nurse and I will give u an example of what they are going through .They have people turning up @ the hosptials as they are unable to see there gp for a flu jab .
No 1 ever goes to the hospital for a flu jab as they dont stock them .
1 other person did a consultation on the phone with the doctor and the doctor said go to a&e and my wifes niece is the sort of person who speaks her mind and after the person had waited a few hours to be seen she said you have been sent to hospital because he was suffering from acne .The hospitals are at bursting point and because people dont want to go through the mill with the doctors surgery they head straight to the hospital .

stuartsmith544 people like that really annoy me. I avoid doctors and hospital like it’s the plague. If something can be treated at home I try that first even on kids but if really suffering then will use gp or out of hours whice normally send you down hospital. A flu jab can be bought from local ASDA for £8 all 6 of us had one last month as I would have hated to use gp supply that could have been used on a vanuable
TheChimp Hey . Please don't think I took offence . I totally understood your question and it was entirely valid .I just wanted to point some reasons as unlike the hospitals who have been utterly amazing I just feel so frustrated with the gp surguries.
Basically the Doc will initially talk to you on the phone and if deemed necessary will then see you in person (with all the safeguards of course ). At least that's how its supposed to work in these times .
Golfforall That's what happened to me. It was a one in, one out job in the surgery with people entering at the front and leaving through the back.
Was all very efficient with a screen up at reception and the doctor wearing PPE.
No, they are not open to see people. You will only get over the phone consultations for now
I have had two phone appointments with the doc but would not relish a video link (wouldn't be able to set it up anyway) as I wouldn't want to reveal anything for them to look at on an unsecure link!!
i haven seen my gp face to face since before lock down. we speak to ours via phone HOWEVER my husband pulled something and the doctor even said "oh it would be better to see you but its not worth the risk"
