Banning driving on school carpark would actually be a good idea the way some people drive

Yes given that some parents drop their darlings off and speed away. Some of the stunts I've seen over the years is scary

Except when a head teacher is driven to suicide because of an ofsted meeting. The pressure of these is unreal

Sounds incredible that a school can go from highest to lowest sounds worrying. I would say lots going on there

There’s too much pressure for the staff. I read this only yesterday “A headteacher killed herself while waiting for an Ofsted report which gave her school the lowest possible rating, her family said.”

This is what I just heard on the radio and that’s why the current head refused the inspection out of respect for the head who killed herself.

It's a terrible story but I don't think they should stop inspections, childrens welfare and safety have to be the first priority. Head teachers are paid well so they should be capable of doing the job and if they aren't able then they should stand down and allow someone else to.

They are but as someone going through this currently, it's not the head that's under pressure it's everyone from cleaner, office staff, tas and any support staff, dinner ladies, kitchen staff, lab technicians. We almost need our kids to be perfect but at their worst. This is so the school gets outstanding but also so those inspecting can see exactly what's going on

Jerseydrew my aunty is a teacher so I completely appreciate that many schools and their staff are under huge amounts of pressure, but as the head of that school you are paid considerably more than most other staff as you are expected to do more. The school failed on leadership, management and safeguarding which are incredibly important factors within a school. In any job if someone in charge cannot manage the business so to speak they would face disciplinary action and eventually dismissal. As I said its very sad and if the inspector did not carry out a fair assessment then why did she not fight the findings where presumably she would have had the support of her staff and pupils parents backing her?

I understand we need ofsted or something similar but I was a nursery manager and the pressure is unimaginable at times and when these people turn up on your doorstep unexpected it horrendous, they come in do a shop shop of your day and like anywhere else it could be one of those days when things just go wrong and is nothing like a normal day. So it’s very hard to get a true picture. I’ve been retired 10 years and it was horrendous then but the pressure child carers are under now, many on minimum wage is disgusting. I loved my job caring for children but I certainly wouldn’t do it now, some parents have no idea the pressure that staff in schools and nurseries are under and the whole system of inspecting and expectations on staff in my opinion needs to change
