Healthy 32 Year Old Dies from an Infected Tattoo

In the News

Everybody and his dog are now having tattoos , it has been one of the most popular trends this century

But there is always the risk of infection, and this is what happened to this 32 year old from Cleveland

The problem is he went to an unlicenced artist using unhygienic equipment and paid the ultimate cost

I remember when i was younger lots of young kids used to ink themselves using a needle and Indian ink , nobody even thought of the hygiene aspect

But there are strict rules in place now that tattoo artists need to follow before they are granted a licence

I read "died from an infected taco" 😅

On a more serious note, I got no tattoos and don't like the idea of ever doing a blood transfusion (avoid infected blood) so I always try to be careful with whatever.

RIP.

I hate and abhor tattoos, I think they look dirty and ugly. I often wonder if those with tatts regret it 10 or 20 years later. After all hairstyles and clothing etc go out of fashion but you can change them. You wouldn't tattoo your heart or liver so why on earth would you tattoo the largest organ of your body.......your skin.

This guy was unlucky, but why take the risk.

Lynibis I agree L, and the worst ones are on older people , you might get away with how it looks when you are young with fresh , unwrinkled skin, but fast forward forty or so years later and the same tattoo has faded and looking like an unironed shirt

That's why i think keep it discreet if you need one , why show the world , it is a personal statement

Sorry that his family have lost him from their lives,

but he went to an

unlicensed tattooist so he took the risk for the sake of a cheap tattoo! RIP 😢

Selinaaa Yes it is sad S , lets hope some good can come out of this by warning others to be careful where they go to have one done

That's very sad news. I guess he thought it was safe, convenient and perhaps even cheaper. It does highlight how easily things can go wrong 🥀

Why you should only go to a licenced tattoo artist. Do your research on the artist before hand too. Ask to see there previous work, read reviews etc.

My sons girlfriend is a tattoo artist & has her own studio. They have to follow strict hygiene rules, for this very reason. Always follow the aftercare advice & you shouldn't end up with any issues.

Glitterandgold I imagine you are advised to use a licenced tattoo artist because they have insurance G

If you are ill and lose time off work or in the worst case scenario something happens as did here at least you or your family could claim , besides the tattoo could cause scarring that needs specialist treatments or you feel you might need compensating for

I do actually like tattoos but never got myself inked as I couldn’t decide what to get.

Then I read that the chemicals in the ink can affect your immune system and that has put me right off.

Never fancied tattoos but saw a girl with a little bumble bee on her ankle today and nearly changed my mind.Wouldn't want to be plastered with them though,

I don’t like them, don’t find anything attractive about them. If anything at least transfers you can chop and change your mind if you need something like that.
