Hermes Has Changed It's Name To Evri But How Can That Make Any Difference?

In the News

Parcel delivery company Hermes is changing, or by now might have already charged, its name to Evri, in the wake of allegations of poor customer service and parcel mishandling!

I'm one of many many hundreds, if not thousands, of people who has had horrendous service (or lack of it) from Hermes, how can changing their name make any difference to that?

๐Ÿ˜‚ I know what you mean. Most people will know its still Hermes and if they have any sense will use a different company, not Yodel though lol!

OMG SilverSurfer ๐Ÿ˜‚ that is amusing, but as far as I'm concerned, when I used to curse Yodel, I didn't realise how lucky I was!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Maybe they should change the name to Smash it & Lost it, when I look at the new name I see Evil, might be just me I am dyslexic.

It threw me the other day when I got a delivery alert from Evri. I had to check to make sure it wasn't another scam.

After reading about all the negative comments about Hermes I am counting myself VERY lucky that our courier is absolutely fantastic. It did throw me to get an email from Evri today about my parcel.

Must admit ,I too , have never had a problem . Wouldn't like to be a courier delivering to blocks of flats or dodgy areas though ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Think if I lived in such an area I would opt for the click and collect option ?

I've never had a problem with Hermes and when I go to send a parcel, the lady is alway lovely. When she told me about the name change we were both complaining about how weird and ugly the new name is ๐ŸคฃIt's actually made her job harder as they've changed all the systems too, so there might be even more confusion and complaints to come

I've never had any issues with parcels that I've bought they've all turned up undamaged, so it depends on who's running the hubs and how they are picking their parcels, if you have a delivery driver or hub hand with a negative attitude who'd rather be doing something else, you're probably more likely to have issues with your parcels.

Perhaps the moaners should consider themselves in the shoes of the delivery driver (especially if they live in a dodgy area ?) . Not a job I would like to do .

Golfforall Not a job I'd like to do either, but I appreciate were those who get damaged goods are coming from, I wouldn't be happy with it either, I know that being self employed and delivering for Hermes isn't really viable, unless you like running around like headless chicken for 12 hours a day as you can struggle to make minimum wage.

pato Very true , they must deliver tens of thousands of parcels every day (as do all the carriers ) . Understandably some folks are vocal when a problem occurs , but rarely compliment on the 99% of deliveries that are fine . Too easy for some folk to jump on any bandwagon that is going ?

if you live in a village the problem will be in the "last leg" , your local courier - so not too hard to identify the culprit ? There are obviously bad apples in any system - so why have a go at me for pointing out the obvious ?

Golfforall My local driver has been doing the run for years and always goes above and beyond to make sure people get their parcels delivered safely, and he deserves respect for that.

Golfforall The moaners???? Well when you lose a parcel you've paid over ยฃ100 for, had numerous others, many of value, lost and damaged, have the hassle of chasing them up time after time, I'm meant to put myself in the shoes of the delivery driver??? OMG what world do you live in, why do you always leave negative comments, I despair!!!

For the record, I live in a rather nice Village, I don't know where you live!

JoTarpley I presume after your unfortunate experience you got full recompense ? Sorry but I only leave "real world " comments - I presume you have a problem with such comments - or maybe just with myself -Fair enough - if a bit sad ?

Why have a go at me ? for stating facts -have you ever had an unfortunate experience with Hermes ? have your fellow villagers ever had one ? It's easy to join a bandwagon for whatever reason . Sorry if your comments don't ring true .

Seems like they want to ditch their horrible reputation as Hermes, but doubt it makes any difference.

I avoid using them and let's suppose I worked for them, I would not throw packages around or kick or leave them where anyone could steal. This is more than just about "moaners," it's responsibility.

I have heard of a few occasions when such things happened , I'm sure we all have . Perhaps you have also heard of the tens of thousands of parcels delivered daily with no issue ?

Maybe you too like to belong to a Bandwagon (no matter how tenuous it may be ?)

Ha ha yeah some of the drivers are thick to be throwing or kicking packages around especially with the amount of people that have ring doorbells or other cctv.

What a strange new name . I have used Hermes for sending parcels many times and never had a problem. With deliveries they seem to be done by local couriers and for years had the same lady who was really good . Now thou the local milkman has taken to delivering the parcels in the day after he finishes the milk but so far he's not great, never know where he is leaving the parcel if I out , thou it is always in the garden somewhere. Overall thou Hermes has not been too bad in my experience

You hit the nail on the head there, the local courier gets to know the area and all his customers so it becomes easier for them over time and it's also easier for them to deliver more when needed, a new courier will instantly struggle as they get to know the runs and are too easily overwhelmed by the volume of parcels that you need to deliver to make any money, that's where the problems start.

I think EVRI is an acronym for Every Van Requires Idiot - or possibly the last word is Ingenuity. Great idea from this Hermes delivery driver possibly trying to lob the parcel over the roof into back garden. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2721896/Stuck-roof-sorry-Delivery-firm-forced-apologise-homeowner-returns-parcel-wedged-guttering.html

For every million deliveries every 2 weeks there is obviously the odd one that is frankly diabolical ! We never see in the news the 999,999 that go to plan (that's obviously not news !

I saw the new TV advert for Evri last night and it's laughable how they make out the drivers just stroll up to the door, ring the bell and wait to hand the parcel to the resident. The thing with Hermes/Evri is not so much about the parcels going missing, it's how they deal with it and inability to actually speak to someone regarding a missing parcel.

It's a shame they couldn't use all that energy and money to just deliver parcels correctly rather that hoping a name change would make a difference

My parcel from River Island was delivered by Hermes. The lady delivery driver said Iโ€™m sorry your parcel was damaged in transit. It wasnโ€™t torn but it looked like someone had cut a straight line across to see what was inside. We both took photos of the parcel as I wasnโ€™t very happy about it. Luckily my coat wasnโ€™t damaged. ๐Ÿค”

Problem with companies dreaming up there problems will disappear if they change there names are diluded in thinking its all over.If your inherrently bad then you can change your name to I'mnotwhoyouthinkiam.com/ and when I hear that a company has changed there name as well I automatically think they are doing it for tax reasons and something to hide.
