Horrendous Service by Currys, How Do I Fix?

Ask a Question

I've had an horrendous 2 months trying to get the fridge freezer I ordered 3 months ago. First they delivered the wrong one, delivery man was so bad, he was subsequently been fired for asking for cash in hand to do job he was supposed too, plus for marking delivered yet telling me they would call to swap for correct one, 2 attempts later delivery was cancelled (i took two unpaid days of work) then no stock. Choose a 2nd choice -went out of stock before they actioned it. 2nd choice came back in, 3 attemps at contacting them until they said can't swap as £300 dearer then they allowed (csn only be 20% dearer it was 25%). Now have to choose 3rd option.

I have to keep popping to shops for food (don't want to fill new freezer,.as day they swapped I'm going to have to bin all food, as has to sit for 3hrs).

Who can I complain to as currys tier 2 complaints themselves are being useless and apparently as.it with them, in store manager can't help, not can anyone when I phone customer service....they can't even transfer call...I literally have to wait until tier 2 contact me. Its ridiculous.

Pjran problem is I paid part with a currys gift card (transferred from.my quidco account) and they will only give refund back to part cash/part gift card....but I don't want to buy anything from them again!

I am glad you posted this as I have been needing a new fridge freezer and was going to buy from Currys, this has put me right off. I have seen a great one on John Lewis as suggested by Pjran so that has decided me.

While I am here I must admit to being worried about their recycling scheme as I have a big old american style fridge freezer and worry that they may balk at taking it away as it is not 'normal' size. I have tried to find an answer on their websites but wondered if anyone here has been in this situation?

Lynibis try ringing John Lewis, they’re very helpful. We bought a new cooker and paid for them to take it away. Other sites ask for the item to be taken to be left outside but JL just took it from the kitchen.

Get your money back and buy elsewhere. John Lewis, maybe?

Shame on Curry's and that immoral driver. He shouldn't have asked for cash, if anything, it's if he had done his job he may have gotten a thank you in cash value.

I would not buy from Currys either, continually bad service, surprised they don't add bad service to their motto.

I've had poor service from Currys and also been completely lied to by staff instore. I only really use Currys if it is a real bargain or I want to look at items before ordering elsewhere. I did buy a Panasonic plasma tv from them in the past and they were utterly useless when it had a fault with purple snakes on the screen (issue with some plasma tvs). Luckily Panasonic UK sorted a full refund for me.

Also worth pointing out Currys often have exclusive models which are by major brands but have a slightly different model number, this is so they don't have to price match and also means you are reliant on Currys to do repairs outside warranties because its not a model sold outside Currys. I assume this is still a thing it was maybe 5 years ago. Currys are best avoided. I used to work at Comet years ago, similar culture of upselling scart cables and insurance and avoiding dealing with customer returns if possible. I'm sure expensive scart cables are now expensive hdmi cables that they push you to sell.

Currys is a great place to go and "look at" , even compare items in the flesh as it were . I don't think I have ever bought from Currys (their reputation precedes them ! ) but have checked out televisions ,washing machines and fridge freezers there prior to buying elsewhere . Many of their items have slightly different model numbers ( as previously mentioned - gives them an excuse not to price match ) but overall a good place for browsing - Certainly not for buying .

We had awful service from Currys as well with a tumble dryer we purchased. The door was faulty and wouldn't close so they came to collect it a week later which is when the problems started. They said a replacement would be sent out once the faulty one had been received at their warehouse, but after a week without any contact regarding the replacement, I phoned them and they said they had no record of the faulty one being collected, thus the replacement hadn't been dispatched. 5 weeks I spent phoning, contacting their social media team trying to get a refund and just was awful dealing with their couldn't care less attitude. I would never buy from them again.
