Huge Backlash about Couples Banned from Intimacy

Other

Just watched a debate on GMB about this and to say I am gobsmacked is an understatement.

For weeks it has been drummed into us that people from different households cannot mix, and even now can only do so in groups of 6 keeping socially distant. It is being enforced by law that couples living apart cannot meet for *** and dissenters are saying it is wrong and stupid. Well, if that's the case why can't my son pop round and give me a hug, or my grandchildren come for the day to give their parents a break, or siblings visit for lunch or a cuppa? Am I missing something here?

If you don't live with your partner, hard cheese! They could be going anywhere, doing anything and bring covid into your home! For goodness sake, risking death for a bit of nooky?

What do you think of this?

I live with my husband and I am still keeping away from him!! If people aren't allowed to hug each other, then as you say, *** is off the table! It is hard for everyone not being able to see their loved ones! My parents live 4 hours away and my mother in law is in Northern Ireland! She hasn't seen her Grandson in over 7 months! People are being really irresponsible just now! The lockdown has eased but I'm still acting as if it hasn't and I'm staying home!

People just can't cope with any curtailment of their lifestyle, even temporarily and to save lives, they climb on the freedom and rights wagon.

Would love to have seen how they would have coped with a hubby away for 9 months after the birth of first baby and 3 months after second, as we had to in our navy days!

There are ofcourse plenty of people that are being sensible and following the rules but it is the ones that aren't that will cause us to have a 2nd wave and go back into full lockdown.

My daughter was staying with her boyfriend on her long days off when lockdown was announced and made the decision to stay there, with his parents agreement, and not go home. She facetimed her brother to pack her uniform and some clothes and a quick trip home to pick up, didn't go into house waved to her Dad through the window and she's not been home since. I've not seen her since 12 January and my son since 19 December.

You have obviously brought up sensible offspring lilyflower. I did see my sons in early March but not since then, they have both had birthdays, and one daughter in law. I know it sounds old fashioned but I am sure most people realise that we all need to make sacrifices in these times.

Lynibis Thank you, I like to think they turned out ok. She stays away to project them/me and to protect herself, she has enough to contend with at work without worrying if any of us have been exposed. I'll see her when it's done and safe to do so 🙂

People are misinterpreting the rules or just bending them to suit themselves. I also think the rules have been over complicated. Why can't they just explain to certain morons that unless you're an actual member of the household (live there) you shouldn't enter the house (except for toilet facilities) and should be keeping two metres away from people who are not part of your household.

If they want sex, even on the lawn and shielded from all prying eyes with a person who isn't a member of the household, they're going to have to find some way of doing it from a distance of two metres. ANY IDEAS?

I do not get it what is the point...I went to the butcher today and no one social distance there ...I think these rule changes make people forget the basic rules. You can meet with 5 people, but if u go to Scotland u can meet with 7 or 8....

I think we should really follow the rules till r goes down to 0, but it is not going to happen.
