Hungary v England: Visiting Players Racially Abused at Puskas Arena

In the News

This not just about sport, but this does not seem to be getting any better.

My family and I will not judge a person by race. They are all equal to us. Never mind their skin colour or religious beliefs. I actually turned the football off, before a ball was kicked, as it sickened me.

Racism shows very very very low intelligence and its just not acceptable. It doesn't help with the people in government gaslight the nation saying taking the knee is gesture politics. In regards to religious beliefs, people can be just as bad as racists being prejudice against say peoples gender or sexuality.

I have always campaigned against any form of discrimination. Sexual, Gender, Belief, Mental illness. It got me the sack from a job in the 90's. I have lost a lot of so called 'lifelong friends' Due to my outspoken attitude during the years. But, I refuse to give in to people who cannot accept a different opinion to their own.

davey184 Getting the sack for defending people from discrimination is just wrong and part of the problems. Hopefully it will get better in time but I'm not hopeful.

SilverSurfer Me neither. What happened to me in 1997 for defending a black gay friend after he was abused to the point of tears is a bad mark on my memory.

Sadly, some Countries are like this.

Fifa/UEFA need to make an example of the teams who's supporters act this way.

Making them play their games behind closed doors for an extended amount of time (not just the paltry 1 game we've seen in the past)

And even expel them from the competition altogether.

I watched it D and i was astounded at the hungary fans and their brainless ignorance

Making monkey chants, throwing paper cups and other missiles at the english players and even lighting and throwing a flare on the pitch, which could have caused serious injury

My question is why were there not any arrests ?

They have cameras everywhere now, most recording , and drones flying overhead to show the match

I am sure the authorities anticipated this and would have been ready

Surely with the latest technology they could have located at least the individuals throwing the flare and missiles

From the sound of the disgusting chants they would have needed to arrest all the hungary fans

Telmel.

Thank you for yor comment.

Some policing and governments turn a blind eye. We have no control or right to control these organisations. So guess we will have to live with it.

davey184 Its ridiculous D, there are a number of serious offences committed here ,including hate crime and endangering lives, but as you say some countries just ignore

Many of the ex-iron curtain countries populations have some horrible racist viewpoints sadly, its always a minority I think but its a larger minority in such countries. I've spoken to a few such people and there is obvious prejudice against gay people or some ethnicities like the jewish. Football fans are often typical of the worst offenders, football is quite tribal. I had great satisfaction watch England beat Hungary much to the resentment of such a hostile racist crowd.

We need to focus our hatred on one type of person and that is criminals who can be any pigment, gender or sexual orientation. The people that destroy our communities and cause all sorts of issues in society.

You're always going to have a minority, you'll never stop it.

A lot of white celebrities have been called out for past social media posts etc, but what happened when Anthony Joshua said not to buy stuff from white people at a BLM rally? Nothing. He's just as racist as any Millwall fan booing footballers taking the knee.

Things were the best they'd ever been in this country when it comes to discrimination, but due to media and BLM, especially TV, going overboard with over-representaion of a minority, there is bound to be a backlash, and it's only going to get worse unfortunately.

Now you might not like what I'm saying, but it's the truth. I wish it wasn't, but the resentment of the white majority is gathering pace.

I didn't hear about the Anthony Joshua thing. Even if you think that I don't like what you are saying. (Which is not how my mind set is) It does not mean you should not voice your opinion to me, or anyone else. Thank you for the input and the information On AJ.

Sadly in some of these countries the racism and homophobia are led from the front by the countries leaders which does not help. The sporting authorities really need to start cracking down hard and actually start banning teams from competitions. It sadly still happens in this country too - if clubs start loosing points and even get banned from competitions they will soon start to act.
