Any Ideas for Alternative Easter Gifts for Kids?
Ask a Question
We get our nieces and nephews the same old easter eggs every year and wondered what else we could send as gifts that are easter fun related?
Quite a few years ago I made my son a "square Egg". I had a handy cube shaped small box which I filled with his usual favourite chocolate bars and a couple of extra silly fun gifts. I then wrapped it up and even found a picture of a chicken with a very surprised look on its face (cartoon drawing) - which it would be if it had laid a square egg. It was more fun and he got a lot more chocolate for his (my) money. A few fun size multi-bags of different choc bars can be found a lot cheaper than easter eggs!
I have a lovely collection of small soft toys, chicks, rabbits and sheep. Every year I get this out and display, bit like you do for Christmas, each year I add another one. So depending how old your relatives are depends what they like. I have a small collection of Peter Rabbit toys which I try to expand.
There are loads of Easter books on amazon reduced, or you could send a soft toy. My daughter doesn't like chocolate so I've bought her coloring and craft stuff instead.
I’ve bought some wooden eggs which I will hide in the garden and a basket to collect them in. They can be decorated later. My granddaughter doesn’t like chocolate.
I give my Grandchildren the money and have always done so when the youngest was born Because they get from Mum and Dad and Aunts and they end up with Far more chocolate than they want and often it’s the parents who eat it, They love nothing more than having money to spend on what ever they want
Depending on their age you could get Easter themed books, crafts, stickers. You could get paints for they can paint their own eggs and then roll them down a hill.
I think buying them an experience is better like a trip to cinema as I think the eggs are too expensive for such a small amount of chocolate
Places like Baker Ross or hobby craft have lots of crafts that's alternative to Easter eggs.
Teach them the true meaning of Easter. Not just eggs and gifts. Maybe get them a plant of some kind or a packet of seeds and a cute plant pot? Younger kids might want to start with garden cress as it is super fast growing and easy to grow.
'Christians believe Easter is a time for new beginnings because Jesus rose from the dead to save us from our sins.' Easter is also in Spring where new life happens with loads of lambs and chicks etc.
Teach them about the 'New beginnings' not that for easter you get chocolate and gifts.
You don't have to be religious but you can also educate too.
Thanks for the ideas guys that’s great. I’ll have a good read through and investigate thanks
I visited Home Bargains the other day and they had some lovely stuff for crafting such as a paint your own Bunny
