Jack’s - Tesco’s Attempt to Rival Aldi and Lidl

News

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45572731

I would have loved to checked it out to see how it compares, but it’s too far away, and I’m not entirely sure how good it will be. Hope it does get rolled out to other areas, as it will ensure the retailers stay competitive

If you’ve managed to visit it, what was it like?

This looks amazing! It's too far away for me too though, hope I get a Jack's near me soon 🤗

I currently don't have an Aldi or a Lidl that close to me, so it seems unlikely I'll get a Jack's. I could do with some good chocolate deals 🍫

The battle for the lowest prices continue. It'd be interesting if 'Auchan' (French), 'Dia' (Spanish), 'Continente' (Portuguese) and 'Walmart' (American) opened their supermarkets in UK. Can't get much cheaper than what these stores sell for.

Technically, Walmart is available in UK but under the name of ASDA. Walmart has a lot of weird customers in US for some reason.

If one opens in Scotland, close to where I live, then I will definitely be visiting. Our local Lidl is really small, so can't do a full shop and our closest Aldis are too far away to make the savings worth it. I am always looking to save money, so I would definitely have a look in one.

We have big lidls and aldis where I live and I still can't do a full shop there. I don't have time to do 2 shops a week 😂

Tasha042 We go to Tesco or Morrisons because we can get everything that we need in one shop and don't need to go to lots of different shops. It might be more expensive doing it that way, but at the moment it is more convenient for me.

I stay with Lidl. Somethings are so good quality.. Like our bathroom mat and it had the toilet seat mat and it was 7.99, it has the none slip plastic on, really good quality and I do not think so Jack can beat it.

I went to my local one today it’s only ten minutes from me and I have to say it was a nice visit considering it was a Saturday I think it was quiet because it’s fairly new and maybe people don’t know it’s part of the Tesco group. The prices are definitely on par with Lidl & Aldi if not matching them to be honest, plenty of choice there and they even had a mini bakery section just like Lidl. Would recommend a visit if you can get to one 👍🏻
