Jamie Oliver Restaurants Closure
In the News
Just saw Jamie Oliver restaurants Jamie Italian are closing, costing 1000 jobs.
Have you been? What was your experience? I only went for a drink and snacks, one bowl of olives for a fiver gave us 5 olives served on ice. We weren't too impressed with it so we didn't go back.
I’ve only ever been once and was unimpressed too! There’s plenty of Italian chains around, zizzi, prezzo, Bella italia etc so it just really didn’t stand out against these IMO and was more expensive!
As an Italian, I can tell you that Jamie Oliver's restaurants are not the best thing in the world, but they are above those chains.
First big difference is the fresh pasta made daily in the restaurants, while other chains receive the frozen products. I remember going twice at Bella Italia and it was one of the worst foods I've had the opportunity to eat
I've never actually been but I checked out the menu there once when I was in Birmingham and it just seemed overly expensive for what it was so we didn't even bother going in. I've also never heard overly great things about it. It's always a shame when something like this happens though, lots of people losing their jobs.
Used to go to the Liverpool restaurant everyweek some years back and was lovely. It did go downhill so i stopped going
If your experience is anything to go by it would seem they were aiming for a very exclusive (rich) clientele. I have never understood the logic behind paying over the top prices for food that should only cost a quarter of the bill. I guess if you are getting exceptional food and can afford it....but 5 olives for a fiver is taking the mick.
They were obviously not meeting the standard of that exceptional food but charging exceptional food prices. No wonder they went bust.
I have never been...Just did not find it exciting...you can eat those things elsewhere cheaper...
