Kids Birthday Party. How to Keep Costs Down.

Money Saving

My youngest's birthday is not far away and these events can cost quite a bit to run. I don't ever do those crazy parents expensive, the whole class comes things. But I want to do something enjoyable with his friends without breaking the bank. In fact I want it to cost as little as possible as I don't have much to spare. Any ideas?

probably plan ahead? number of visitors? foods and drinks to prepare? giveaways optional or not? some children's games.. etc..

A few cardboard boxes (for 2 forts) and a few 99p water pistols should do the trick with boys (tell them to bring some extra dry clothes for after)

What age is your youngest? Musical statues is a good game, pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey. Food wise sandwiches crisps, carrot sticks, sausage rolls, etc. Little disco outside with BBQ. Really depends on the age range.

Sorry forgot to say you could also do like a treasure hunt with lots of clues and a little sweet or toy at the end of it. We saved up the empty kinder egg cases and had it spell out happy birthday and all the kids put it together and had to shout it. Kept them occupied and great fun.

I have done this before when he was younger and it works really well. The problem is the weather although I could make it an indoor one.

You can get lots of stuff in poundland balloons, party bags and invitations, poppers...

Big bags of sweets

Plates, forks and soon

Try b&m as well..try wilko as well for plates, and so on..

Crisps and biscuits you can get at tesco's or asda the really cheap ones put them in bowls and plate.

You can as well, make party hats, get a cheap thick rapping paper, or get thick paper plain or coloured paper from poundland, (put stickers on them if thry are plain paper, or just 1 colour)

Keep folding papers or rapping paper if not or ready squared.

Then cut them roll into a hat, put a bit of selo tape to keep it together..

Also if there is alot of kids and you can't get cheap invitations at any shop...

you can get plain paper fold them in squares cut them into invitations put a sticker or 2 on them.

Get a coloured pen or marker and write the invitations.

Now about games and stuff, you can give the winner 2 lollipops.

Depending on how many games, you want at the party.

you can get 1-2big bags of poundland.

Or you could give out cupcakes but put a different sweet on it from what's at the party.

Or a big sweet and have small sweets at party...

If your having cupcakes at the party make sure icing has no sweets.. No sweets on it because that would be for winners.

So no need for big expensive winning prizes, just something kids like and different from what's around them.

Try ebay as well...
