What Kitchen Appliance Would You Be Lost Without?
Other
Mine is my food processor. Can't be doing with all that creaming or rubbing when cake making, life is much easier when you can bung it in and turn it on.
I also grate cheese and keep a container of it in the fridge, I make breadcrumbs and slice carrots, cucumber etc.
Having said all that my 3 tier steamer would be hard to live without. Potatoes bubbling in the bottom, selection of vegetables in middle and a piece of trout or salmon in the top. Healthy nourishing meal in less than half an hour.
Mine would probably be my slow cooker.
Didn't really see the point of them until I got one as a present a couple of Christmases back.
Now I love chucking everything in it and coming back in 6 or so hours to a lovely cooked meal.
I forgot about that, in fact not sure what order I would put them in for missing the most. I have a triple one with 3 small pots in one unit, ideal for one person. I can cook 3 meals while out at work, eat one and freeze 2.
Lynibis I have one big main pot, I tell myself I will cook a large amount, eat a bit and freeze the rest.
Needless to say, the extra rarely makes it to the freezer
blacklabrador I know the feeling well, I have a large one too and it is great for family visits. Today I had it on doing a Bolognese sauce and have used it for a lasagne and two single portions to go with spaghetti, safely in freezer now!.
Has to be my slow cooker, come home from a day at work and the smell when entering the house it sooo good and tastes even better.
Our most used is 100% the kettle, all 4 of us are heavy tea/coffee drinkers so our kettles never off when we are all in. Cooking wise, aside from the oven our 3 tier steamer & slow cooker get alot of use. I would have said microwave a couple year ago, but when it gave up the ghost we never bothered replacing it & we haven't missed it at all.
I guess none of us would be able to get along without our fridges, freezers, ovens and many would even say dishwasher, I would hate to not have mine. But small appliances are a different matter. I guess we have all bought the odd thing we end up never using. Mine is a coffee maker, have bought two and ended up giving them away. I love the idea but not the reality.
Have any of you bought small appliances that have ended up in room 101?
Dishwasher when the guests are round!
Gives you that extra little time to host your guests!
The good old Microwave. It's a big commodity and I think most kitchens have one.
I do have a new favourite, my air fryer - it's awesome for my chips and chicken!
I have often toyed with the idea of an air fryer, maybe my next LD voucher purchase, although my food processor is misbehaving at present and may need a new one.
when I’m on a healthy eating kick / diet - my blender for soup and smoothies and my steamer for veg.. normally I would say my microwave though just for how quick it is to reheat things!
My kettle. It's the first thing I reach for when entering the kitchen in the morning and I use it more than every other appliance.
