Laundry Powder or Capsules

Ask a Question

What do you prefer and which one lasts longer? I have now switched to powder to see how I will get on. Do you have any experience?

Ann1984 A lot of people have noticed this same problem. I was aware of it last year, during a hot spell, and lots of comments in groups I'm in were complaining of the same thing - me included! We'd also been using gels an liquids after years of powder. (started using powder mostly again) Thought it was all sorted and used liquid about a month ago with the same result, the smell was pretty rotten. Gone back to powder with a run through of Calgon and it's sorted. Wonder if it's a gunky build-up in the pipes

I use gel capsules for the most part.

The only exception is when I'm doing a cooler wash of 30 degrees, as the water doesn't seem to get hot enough to melt the gel and release the cleaning liquid within.

I have used gel, powder and capsules. I find that powder lasts the longest and there doesn't seem to be as bad a smell in the washing machine.

I prefer capsules, but it's sooo annoying when they don't dissolve properly and there are pieces all over your clothes.😡

I’ve never used capsules, always powder. I suppose it’s everyone’s own preference.

I prefer powder. A few years ago I was told that liquid detergents including pods build up in the machine. That was shared by a chap who repairs washing machines.

Depends on the temperature you’re washing at. Powder only works good at hotter temperatures or you’d get that awful residue and need to wash the load again

I’ve never been a fan of powder because most my clothes are black and it always leaves some sort of residue on them.. I love liquid or gel, especially the 2 in 1 stuff.. I’ve not tried capsules and i am intrigued as to whether they are better but they don’t seem to be cheaper..
